Re: Share your good news Last night was the sleepover night, so my son was at camp all night and I don't know if the girl showed up yesterday or not. I won't know until tonight. He could ask one of the counselors, but I don't know if they'll tell him anything. They're real big on privacy. The counselors/lifeguards aren't even allowed to use their real names! They all have to come up with a "camp name" for the campers to use. Maybe I'll have more info tonight.

Re: Share your good news Thanks all. I did find out that on Friday, they let all the campers, regardless of swimming ability, go down the sliding board into the pool. They post a lifeguard in the water right by the slide to help the ones that can't swim. So along comes that same little girl. Sank like a stone. The lifeguard stationed at the bottom of the slide (not my son) had a hard time getting the kid to the side also. This must be one big kid. My son said the kid was crying and upset again. I can't believe she actually went down the slide!

Re: Share your good news I also give credit to the camp that they'll let kids who can't swim have the experience of going down the slide.

Re: Share your good news I asked my son the same thing. Most of the kids are between the ages of about 6-12. So she's not all that old, but she must be really big because the lifeguard that had trouble with her on Friday has a couple more years of experience than my son. I'm not so sure that the problem is her size (although that is a factor). I think it's more that she panics and starts crying, etc. They keep telling her to calm down and they can help her better, but I guess when you're in a panic, you really can't help it. Poor kid. I hope she goes for swimming lessons with a really good instructor and at least gets to the point where she doesn't panic.
