lei - I love this thread, too. I'm happy for you - appreciating the big picture is a good feeling that helps us over the bumps. If you ever want to ask for prayers - whether you're religious or not - this is the place. I can testify to the powers of the FORT's collective thoughts, prayers, good wishes. They've gotten me through some pretty dark places.
    Count your blessings!

I am so excited right now

No I don't have a teaching job yet. However, I do have a trip to NYC planned for the very beginning of August and I am going to see two Broadway shows. Sigh.

One of my best friends from college is also over in the area. I haven't seen her in 6 years, so I am so very excited to see her next week.

Since good things happen in threes maybe I will have a teaching job for next school year by the end of the summer Have to keep the positive thoughts flowing.

    Re: Share your good news

Well, this may be kinda long, but it is roundabout good news so bear with me!

Around the end of April I began having trouble with my hip and leg that rapidly progressed until I had to go out of work. So when I went to the orthopaedic doctor, they did an MRI on me, and found an egg sized mass in my sacro-iliac area .
I was sent to the cancer specialist, and they were all in a panic due to the size, location and appearance (on the scan) of it, and they fat tracked me through a biopsy that I had this last Tuesday. As it turns out, I somehow have a big pocket of infection, but it's 95% likely it is NOT cancer or anything that will have to be surgically removed. With the new meds they have today, I'm on a three week course of powerful antibiotics, and will afterward be checjked again; the oncologist and the internal medicine doc are all but sure there will be nothing left! Yes, I am sick, and not walking all that well, and I can't go back to work yet, but I am SO relieved.
And after all this, I need it bad; I was scheduled to go to Washington State and british Columbia, and I'm going ahead, in the morning. I'm lucky enough that I have a sister who is a nurse, so I got her a ticket so she will be with me to help monitor me, so the docs gave their blessing. (This is the same sister whose house burnt...my brother in law wanted her to go ahead and go with me, even with the house deal...they are at kind of a lull in the action as it were anyway and she needs a break as bad as I do. )

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Sorry if this is kind of incoherent--I'm just so relieved!

That's great news, QueenB! I really hope the antibiotics do the trick and you're back to normal in no time. And good for you for still going on your trip -- I'm sure both you and your sister can use the vacation.

Oh, I will-- and also, I'd like to thank my buddies here for helping me stay positive during this experience.

Oh, and Lucy--you only have a minute before your Big Adventure too--I'm stoked for you!

I'm so happy for you queenb. I know it was a trying time involving a lot of pain still, but you'll pull through with new appreciation for how the body can heal. Enjoy your trip with your sister. You both can use the break.
    Count your blessings!
