We quickly realized that even though he drinks, and does drugs, and watches porn, and is a walking teenage boy steriotype, his sister knew NOTHING about any of it. She was convinced that 'pot' is what you cook pasta in.

Naturally, we all asked him about it, and he replyed that there was no way that he was going to let his baby sister become a druggie like him. Isn't that sweet?
Yup, sweet, but even sweeter would be to clean up his act...one day little sis will realize what her role model is up to....if only because some older person inadvertently spills the beans.

I'm just worried that there may not be any adult supervision at your gateway party. Just because he says he doesn't want his sister to do drugs doesn't mean he is sincere.

There was, and he blew it off in the end... I knew he would, but it was the thought that counts. There are ALWAYS adults.

And I wouldn't qualify him as role model so much as a concerned older brother. But whatever.
...And the strange boy continued to weave in and out of her life, leaving her with a sense of wonder and amazment, but also, a feeling of loss, knowing that life might never be the same again.

You made the offer, 11sstphanie, that's the important thing. He knows you're there if he ever needs you. You're a good friend.

I am extremely proud of 3 of my friends! They all decided to quit smoking cigarettes, and all 3 have been successful!! These are 30 year smokers!! One decided that she had just had enough and was sick of it; one went to a program and struggled, mightly; the third really wants to be a firefighter (her smoking history is 15 years), and she listened to more experienced firefighters, and quit (she wants this really, really badly.) They've all told me how much better things are for them now...from breathing to stamina. I am bursting with pride!

That's awesome, prhoshay! That's quite decision. You have every reason to be proud of them, as well as them being proud of themselves. They're fortunate they have as good a friend as you to offer support. This isn't an easy thing they're doing.

Anytime I hear of someone quitting smoking it makes my day. I quit 5 years ago after 32 years of a 2 pack a day habit. One of the best things I ever did.

One of my friends decided to stop because of the effect she was afraid that her smoking was having on her kitties. None of her previous kits had lived well into old age, and she was very concerned about the part that she may have played in their early deaths. Whatever works, I guess, since her babies had already died. I remember she would always play the head game with herself, "I always crack a window." She has finally acknowledged that she now knows that was a head game. Joanie!! Julie!! Jody!!

    Congrats to your friends prhoshay

Not only are they doing their health (and those around them) a favor, but I bet they will start to notice the money savings as well.
Have you done your Green deed for the day?
