I was thinking it was a computer

    Maybe it's a dance or a party?

I looked it up on Google and it's a two-hour party, thrown in a gym or by the side of a pool. There can be no more than 15 people at the party.

OK I didn't know where to put this but I've already talked about this topic here before so I'm sticking to this thread (hopefully in the future as well). I need your thoughts on whether this is good news or not

I told you that I found a job that I was applying for a job. I sent in my application on Friday. In the ad they were specific to point out that they would not send out confirmations that they had recieved the applications. But still, today I got a confirmation and a note saying they'd inform me more right after the deadline (tomorrow). Is this good news or just news?

On one hand, they may have changed and are sending out confirmations to everyone. But do they say they'll contact all applicants immediately after the deadline? Or does it mean that I've made it through to the next step? If they contact me right after the deadline it'll be tomorrow or on Thursday. I really want to know what they meant.

I really don't want to get excited over nothing but it just feels like good news since they pointed out that they won't send out confirmations. Should I ask my other friends who are also applying or should I just wait. I hate waiting...

I hope it's good news, I really want this job!!

Sorry about that guys! I mentioned it a few pages earlier I thought....

It's a huge celebration in my school, where I talk for about an hour, then there's food and friends!

It celebrates my 'maturing as a learner.' I don't go for it myself, but, to graduate, I've got to do it twice, so here's the first time. I'll probably do my other on in 18 months or so...

femme fatale - You could ask if they've heard anything without mentioning that you have if you think it would hurt their feelings.

So I invited him. Turns out, I'm the first person to invite him to a Gateway so far this year, and it's really sad, when I handed him the slip of paper that said he was invited, his eyes lit up.

It made me happy to see that, but, at the same time, I really feel sorry for him now, it brought back all these memories from when I was 10, I was in the same situation.

I'm going to try to be his friend- God knows he needs a couple right now. Wish me luck.
Trying to figure out where you are in school, 11ss--seems so different from what most of us experienced!
That's really nice of you, and I'm glad you invited him, but be a little cautious not to become his liferaft, get too sucked in...drinks, dabbles in drugs, friends all went with the girlfriend...kind of warning signs in high school. But no harm in including him in group things.
femme fatale-- I'm with Gutmutter--it's only a day or two to wait, be cautious about hurting your friends who also applied.

I know, I know. He's actually kind of ashamed of it I think, and when he wants to be protective, he is. Last year, he was a freshman, and he had a little sister starting the 7th grade. We quickly realized that even though he drinks, and does drugs, and watches porn, and is a walking teenage boy steriotype, his sister knew NOTHING about any of it. She was convinced that 'pot' is what you cook pasta in.

Naturally, we all asked him about it, and he replyed that there was no way that he was going to let his baby sister become a druggie like him. Isn't that sweet?
