You and Newf are cracking me up! No, I'm not in the restaurant business although I did work in one another lifetime ago.
I'm the person who throws bread out before it molds, sandwhich meat out after about a week, and throws other stuff away periodically because in my mind, as twisted as it may be, I don't like to think I might be eating spoiled food. And I haven't had such a huge case of food poisoning to make me feel this way. I really don't remember why or when it started but it's only been in the last five years or so. My nose is sensitive to smell and my taste buds are also sensitive so maybe they've gotten more so as I get older. If meat smells funny, I feel nauseated at the thought of eating it so I throw it out. So don't get me wrong, I only throw out stuff that doesn't pass my sniff or taste test.
I do feel bad because there are lots of hungry people in the world and I'm fretting over food that might be bad but is probably still good to eat. But there you have it. Don't call the men in white coats on me!

It actually amazes me the number of people who leave meat out all day to thaw, eat it for dinner that night and then wonder why they got sick. Thanksgiving is the big holiday for that. You leave the turkey in the sink to thaw and after you cook it you just leave it out for everybody to nibble on. You can't leave food in the

For those of you who remember, one of our dear friends' 18 y.o. daughter broke her neck in July, and was *this* close to being a quadriplegic. She began college in August wearing a neck brace, and as of 9/14 was finally allowed to remove it. She waited until 12:01am on 9/14 to do so, called her mom and said, 'IT'S OFF AND FEELS SO GOOD!"
