As I walked across the parking lot I noticed a van pulled up and stopped short, just before it ran me over. It was parked in a space so the driver shut the engine off, but he stayed in the van. There were two guys sitting in the front seat and a big, old black dog in the back of the van, hanging its head into the front.

I wouldn't have paid the van any attention at all, except that it almost mowed me down so I looked over at it. When I looked in I saw the driver take a long pull off a bottle of bud and realized that he'd been drinking and driving.

So I decided to call it in to the cops, even though it was a real pain in the neck to take time to do that.

To my surprise and relief, the cops didn't ask me for any information at all. They didn't want my name or anything else, but said they'd send over someone to check out the driver.

The driver went in and shopped, and so did I, but I kept my eyes open and then saw a cruiser pull up next to the guy's van. The guy was in the store, tipsy, and the cops were out front waiting for him.

Just as I left the store the cruiser pulled around the front of it, and the driver was stuck in the back seat.

So he was obviously hammered, and now he won't be driving drunk tonight, and I feel pretty damned happy about that.
    Good job, Pom.

My thoughts exactly. It's a shame more people don't report DUI's. I do it all the time on my way home from work Friday and Saturday nights. I know all of the ones I report don't get stopped, but if you're obviously driving drunk, I'm telling!
I have found the Truth and it doesn't make sense.

Well, I'm sorry to say that I wasn't off the streets for very long -- just long enough to report the guy who was drinking and driving.

OH!!! You mean the drunk driver!!!

Pom - I am glad to hear of your good deed. Who knows how many lives you may have saved with that little phone call. People who drink and drive just tick me off.
