Why would/could that be spyware AG?

I found a cool site that is actually helpful, it's called real age and is a site to help you live your life healthier.

    http://www.realage.com

I don't know how to make it a link.

    Apparantly, you do! ;-)

Spyware/adware has been included in a number of seemingly helpful programs, including Pnkzip, which stopped distributing the "Infected" copies, and Kazaa, one of the famous file-sharing programs.

If you want a real kick-ass spyware/adware protector, go to
    www.lavasoftusa.com

and click on "Ad-Aware". You don't have to pay, and only certain upper-level functions are crippled. Very useful.

    I'll explain:

Spyware monitors your computer and your computer habits:
    - What software you use
    - What kind of computer you use
    - How much time/money you spend online
    - Where you spend your time online
    - How many hours you use your computer
    - and so on

and then sends it back to the company that wrote the program. Nasty stuff, and it's usually bundled with programs that you need/want, like Kazaa or Pnkzip. Also, it connects behind your back (It can connect silently when you aren't even connected yourself, etc.)

Adware downloads banner ads and displays them on your screen, and sucks up bandwith as it downloads them, and may also have spyware functions. Gator E-wallet is a famous example of this, as is the Zinger "Commercial Break" bar.

And, Summer, I use it every Thursday night, works like a charm. I suggest using it if you download ANYTHING from a non-secure system (I.E: If you buy software online then download it, it's OK, but if you download freeware or shareware, look out)

    Hope that helps!

I remember when I installed iMesh for music downloads, it also installed about a dozen other unwanted programs. I had to go through & uninstall them, got rid of iMesh out of spite. I don't know if I got rid of them all, as some were hidden really well. That Ad-Aware does a pretty good job of snooping out the unwanted. I've been using it for a while now.
