You are no stranger to us! We have been thinking of you daily and hoping for the best. Congratulations to your son for a nice graduation! I am so sorry to hear of the tough challenges ahead. I am sending many good wishes your way and hope that those good cells of your son's can stay strong and help fight this. And that the surgery goes well, of course.Originally Posted by buglover;3956434;

When the G20 came to Pittsburgh last year, we had the same "professional protesters" acting like idiots. I'm all for freedom of speech and peaceful civil disobedience, but damaging private property and inciting the police is just dumb and ineffectual.
It may be dumb, but it's not ineffectual. They get media coverage for FREE. Their cause is publicized in the papers, on tv, whatever.Originally Posted by brunette trixie;3960737;
Well not exactly free, if they get arrested they have to post bail and go to court and all that. But a lot of protesters like the so called "free" publicity for their cause.

Last year, I received a 30% increase in my health insurance.
I was one of the million who wrote to Obama.
Tonight, I received a 20% increase from my insurer.
That mean 50% increase over a 2 year period.
They say it is to cover the rising health care costs.
I am going to write to Obama, as well as to the Insurance Commissioner in my state, the governor, the Mayor, the councilmen and senators.
I know of no other business that is allowed to increase their costs by 50% over a period of 2 years.
My health care costs now exceed my mortgage by 20%.
Ain't it great to live in this country??
