Aww...Unk, you always know how to brighten my day! Those skittles are looking mighty fine right about now. I had a hard day at the office.

My family is taking bets on how long I'll be there! They're so supportive.

Thanks, Jewels. It's just the fact that I haven't worked in nearly ten years! Talk about an adjustment!

    You are such an

    Thanks.

One more little whine, then I promise I'll *slow down* on the whining.

It's just so annoying when people don't give a rat's behind (*putting it lightly*) about their job or their environment. We are all given sections of the store to take care of. Clean, stock shelves, order product, etc. (sorry if I'm over-simplifying, I've never worked in retail, so this is all new to me) I have always been one to have a very clean workspace. Which makes no sense at all, because you can't see the furniture or even the floor in my apartment, it's so cluttered. But I digress. Anyhoo, I swear this place hasn't been taken care of for at least a year. We have 90,000 products! Of course, being the new guy, I get the *crap* sections, which is fine, that's life. But there is so much garbage lying around or stashed behind other product (packets of beads behind the nutcrackers - what could be worse!!) - but picking up and putting away is fine, too, I want my sections to be ORGANIZED and look nice. Apparently that is not a priority, however, what so-and-so is bringing for lunch for everyone is, and what kind of cake do I want for my birthday (in September) and who is my primary care physician (insurance benefits don't start for six months)....etc. And I have to report to the manager any time I take medicine, since they do random drug screening. I took a Tylenol yesterday - and it went in my "permanent file". Good Lord.

So it's not miserable (as in being stuck in the bottom of the viking ship rowing toward wherever viking ships go), it's just new and really annoying, and partially confusing.

Have I just been spoiled by having a desk in an office with a lock on the door?

*if I have offended anyone who works in retail, please forgive me - I know nothing about it, and am still stumbling around bumping into stuff*
