    Re: Talk about your troubles

Thanks so much everyone. Gutmutter, don't worry about it, I've already done the 'what if's' in my head, at least to a certain extent. And I agree that it's better to prepare yourself for the 'worst' . That's wonderful that you've come through the other side of this. I know that the odds are truly on the side of it being ok, but still find it hard to switch off my mind sometimes.

Of course I'm on pins and needles. I've had a muscular type of ache in the side of the breast/armpit for awhile now, sometimes both sides but mostly the right side. I attributed it to hormones and didn't really worry about it since it comes and goes. But it is noticeable, and of course adds fuel to the worry. I'm on the cancellation list so hopefully will get a phone call before next Friday.

Thanks for all the warm wishes.

    Re: Talk about your troubles

Just wanted to ask for prayers for tomorrow when I go back in for my screening mammogram. The achiness and pain is still in the outside of my right breast and under my arm, sometimes radiating down my arm. I saw my Dr. today for a followup for my little girl's x-ray but broke down and told her how worried I was. She did a manual exam and said she felt no lumps or swollen lymph nodes, but I know that doesn't really mean anything until I get a clear mammogram and the pain goes away. She thought I maybe strained in on the elliptical machine or doing something, and now that all my focus and worry is on that spot plus the constant manipulation is making it worse.

Has anyone else ever exacerbated pain due to stress and worry? I'll be honest, I'm absolutely terrified that they will find something tomorrow, and that I will be one of the unlucky ones. I cannot imagine telling my girls I have breast cancer. I just can't go there, and when I do go there in my head I start to panic. This has been one of the worst weeks of my life.

Yes -- for me, it's with my teeth. I've had a lot of work done on my teeth, and now, along with my knees and other old injury or surgery sites, when there's a weather change (barometric pressure up or down), I get achy. Well, now my teeth have joined the party. Before I realized this, though, I'd get all stressed out thinking I need an expensive root canal, etc., and call the dentist in a panic, and feeling lots of pain. But x-rays and exam showed nothing wrong. And then the pain would go away.

I totally understand where you're coming from with stress exacerbating pain. Fingers crossed for good results -- and pain going away!

I agree about stress and pain--I think stress keeps me from being able to ignore pain, as well as actually making it worse.
Sweetpea, please try not to worry so! Re-dos on mammograms are very common. I hope you get good news soo.
