I hope you can focus on the positive. It is hard, sometimes, and I fret over things too. If it is any comfort to you, the mammogram equipment is constantly being refined and updated. It is now more sensitive than ever, and the number of callbacks is increasing. My mother had breast cancer when she was 52. Back then there were only radicals, and no chemo or radiation. To make a long story short, she lived to be 91. Chin up, my dear!! Just a suggestion, if I may, on how to focus on the positive: yoga, if you can do it. I did it for years until I had trouble with my hands and needed surgery. I hope to go back to it. Those orientals got it right!! It is the most relaxing thing on earth. Good luck to you.

| Re: Talk about your troubles Sweatpea as another with an irrational fear, I understand. But it can any number of reasons that amount to nothing. I have fibroids, so there is always a lot of issues with that when I have mine.

| Re: Talk about your troubles I had a call back one time. I was just about to change jobs, was getting some medical work done like mammogram, pap test, etc. done before I switched insurance. Then I get a call that I had to come back in for more views on my mammogram. I worried myself sick for the next several days running all these scenarios through my mind. How would I be able to take my new job if they found cancer? What would my family do? And just general fear for myself. BUT, it turned out okay. Like everyone else has said, sometimes they just need a clearer look. In my case there was an image there that the radiologist wanted a second look at. They had to "squish" a little harder in that area and it turned out to be nothing. I know that telling you not to worry is useless. You're going to worry anyway, but try to not worry too much. 9 times out of 10 it's just routine. I'll be sending good thoughts your way.

| Re: Talk about your troubles Sweetpea, Deep breaths always help me to relax. We can tell you a zillion times not to worry, but you will anyway. Try to worry in a small way. I'll be thinking about you and will try to take some of your worrying away from you! |

| Re: Talk about your troubles I just want to add that as a breast cancer survivor, even if the news is the worst - breast cancer is the best kind of cancer to get! Very high success rates in beating it. No, it's not fun to go through the treatments, but you will hear many who come out the other end (including myself) say they were glad for the experience. It puts things in perspective in a way you can't just explain to someone who hasn't been there. If you are diagnosed with cancer, you will find a lot of support here, but I strongly recommend finding a local cancer support group. Ours only meets once a month, but it is a great release to talk with people who know exactly what you're going through. Having said all that, the call back could be for many reasons. Try not to panic yet. Breathe in, breathe out.

| Re: Talk about your troubles Tea, extra sleep if you can manage it, and enforced "quiet times" with your hubby can help. ![]() I've also re-discovered the soothing "medicine" of a warm glass of milk at bedtime. Puts me right out. I wish you good news! |

| Re: Talk about your troubles Sweet pea, I've had mine repeated for years, it seems. I have very fibrous breasts and not only do they keep repeating it, but my dense breas*s hurt like heck when they do the da*n mammo!! ![]() As others have indicated, though, it's not at all unusual and, more than likely, nothing to worry about. I wish you much good luck.

| Re: Talk about your troubles Let me explain my last post a little. I was taught when worried about something to imagine the worst possible outcome and what you would do about it. It almost never comes to that, but knowing I could deal with the worst always steadies me. I wasn't trying to scare you or anything. Hope to hear soon, that all is well.
