Talk about your troubles

Yes, it was well over 100 here last week. I'm in Concord, about an hour from San Francisco. Are you in Nor. Cal too Critical? The weather here today is great!

I'm about an hour northeast of you. We had nothing but overcast and muggy today. Lots of thunderstorm warnings all afternoon as well, but no real rain. I'm not about to complain - anything that isn't 100+ is okay by me.

mrd, I'm wishing you the very best on your appointment tomorrow. I can only imagine the anxiety you must go through about doctors, meds, symptoms, everything. I'm so glad you are choosy about your doctors, as that can make all the difference in the world. For what it's worth, I have a friend who has been in complete remission for a few years now. Whatever happens, remember that your FORT friends are with you, to listen and laugh and cry with you. Keep us posted.

Thanks guys. Now that I've slept on it, I don't feel so anxious. But I have to say I am sick and tired of going to see Dr., going for tests, etc. I want some definete answers and some treatment and I'm tired of being bumped back and forth like a pinball. And I'm tired of doctors that have such a huge ego that it prevents them from actually being able to take care of patients. Check the ego at the door mister. I'm here because you do have a medical degree, but I don't need the big attitude that you think goes with it. AND I'm tried of being treated like an imbecile too. I may not know much. But I do know enough and I'm reasonably intelligent (most days. ), so don't talk down to me either. But in my limited experience, it seems like neurologists are a whole different animal than the rest of the medical profession. Do they get extra training on being pompous asses? Is that like an extra class before they get the diploma?
I just hope this one isn't because I'm at the point that he may just have me explode in his office if I have to deal with one more egotist. My patience is running very low at the moment due to all I've been through recently.

I think how you're feeling is completely understandable, mrd. Maybe that's what some of these pompous doctors need - someone who will stand up to them and bring them down a peg or two. You go, girl!

I just got back from the doctor and he was wonderful. I mean, really truly patient, kind and took a LONG time with me. He wants more tests run, but he does feel that the symptoms I exhibit are indicative of MS along with the previous testing I've already had done.
I've had such bad doctors that it was a real pleasure to have such a good thourough one who LISTENED to me. Now that said, I've sat here and cried for 15 min. after getting home. I don't even know why I'm crying. Isn't that pathetic. I've spent 4 years dealing with all these problems, been shunted to every known specialist, had all kinds of testing, proding and poking, been dismissed, been treated like an idiot and now that I finally feel we are getting somewhere, I have totally lost it. The only problem I do have is that I am having another MRI done next week, but he doesn't want to see me again until Sept. 12. I'm so frustrated, been on such a long journey that another 2 months just seems interminable to me. I want some answers and something done NOW. Is that too much to ask? My arms and hands are getting worse and frankly it scares me and it keeps me from being able to do much of anything. Amazingly enough, I don't have much trouble typing, but I can no longer scrapbook, write long handed or do anything that really requires hand co-ordination. I was trying to cook last night and was so frustrated that my hands just would not do what I needed them to do. It's scary and its frustrating and I'm just over all of it. I should just delete this as its just a long, whiney, pity party, feel sorry for me post and I don't intend it to be that way.
I'm home by myself, and have tried calling my husband and my best friend and neither are available. So I guess you guys get to hear my whiney vent.

First of all I'm glad you posted. That's what this thread is for, and that's what we're all here for.

I've come to the conclusion that most doctors (at least around here) have huge egos that get in the way. And even the good ones don't think everything through, so it's totally right for you to question the timing of tests, results, etc. You have my 100% support on that.

Finally, and most importantly, I'm just so sorry you're going through this. I wish there was something I could do besides offer a shoulder, which you absolutely have. Please post as much as you want or can, PM too if you like, just know that I and others here care about you.

Please do whatever you think is right with the doctors, keep us posted, and snuggle those precious doggies for me, okay?

I'm so glad you are working with a doctor who listens and who you will be able to trust and I know EXACTLY how you feel at home alone....forced to wait, wishing they would do something now, wondering if you had said something different if they would be able to help now, etc. Telling friends and family how you feel definitely helps, even if they don't completely understand what you're going through.

I'm also upset to hear that you are already having problems with your hands and arms and can't do everything you want to...hopefully the docs take notice of this and get you the help you need ASAP. Once someone's quality of life starts to deteriorate, they should do all in their power to help.

If you don't feel like they're doing all they can to help or if you think waiting until September 13 is too long, speak up! And remember we're always here to listen, and we're damned good at it.

mrd - I completely agree with lei and Spoose. We're here any time you need us to listen. Since this doctor was so nice and listened, maybe you could call the office and see if they could get you the MRI sooner. It's worth a shot.

Don't forget we're here for you. Whine any time you want for as long as you want. It really does help to get things off your chest.

MRD, I am kind of new here and don't know your whole story, but I have picked up bits and pieces from your recent posts. I just want you to know that I am sending you good thoughts and positive vibes. I truly hope everything works out for you. You seem like a great person and I am really sorry that you are going through this.

This is why I don't like posting about my little troubles. There are people who have real troubles. I wish you all the best MRD. Take care.
