Ok, now that you mature people have gone on and vented your problems, I'm going to bug you with my little teenage issues

Honors Chorus auditions were on Thursday, and the few days previous to it I'd been working myself up really badly, trying to get prepared, but really just stressing myself out really badly. By Thursday I was a nervous wreck, and I wanted to get it done... but, of course, right before the audition, I started freaking out, and I went in, and I didn't quite hit the G that I was supposed to, and then messed up on the sight reading... then, after the audition, the guy said that I 'shouldn't stop singing'... and now I'm worrying myself to death about if I made it or not, because I've never not made it and I really wanted to get it this year...

I had a message from Gagi this morning. Ryan is in so much pain. His knees hurt so badly that he can't walk. They are taking him back to Philadelphia to the specialist today. Everyone say a special little prayer for him. He really needs a miracle.

Hi, everyone.

Thanks so much for your prayers and good wishes. (Thanks, Muduh, for posting an update when I didn't have the time.)

Ryan has RND (Reflex Neurovascular Dystrophy). The bottom line is there is an injury to the spinal cord which takes the pain signal (from a minor back surgery) and sends it to the nerovascular nerves. They control the blood flow. These nerves cause the blood vessels to constrict which slows the blood flow. That cause more pain, and the vicious cycle begins again. According to the specialist, there is no cure for this. Ryan will need to learn to exercise his way through the pain to increase the blood flow.

Yesterday, Ryan woke up with pain in his knees and could barely walk. My sister and bro-in law rushed him back to Philly (about 90 mins from their home) to see the specialist again.

Would you believe that this new pain is a miracle, too? The doctor said it was a really good sign that his pain moved from his back to his knees. That means the nerves can be retrained. Right now his back pain which was usually and 8-10 (on a scale of 1-10) is now a 3.

Ryan was sent home with more exercises and no medication. The specialist insists that no medication be used because then Ryan won't be motivated to work through it. He has a wonderful success rate so I hate to argue with that. BUT watching (and hearing) Ryan being forced to climb stairs last night to his bedroom was incredibly heartbreaking. Even a breeze or a light touch on his knees is sheer agony.

Hopefully, this will all calm down within a couple of weeks. My sister has been on the phone all morning with the insurance company trying to get authorization for treatment. Once Ryan is in Philadelphia, a lot of the stress will be off the family (as far as exercises and dealing with his medical problems) and the professionals will be able to handle it. Then my sister can do what she does best - comfort her hurting child.

Gagi, what a heartbreaking story. I will continue to pray for you and your family, and hope that Ryan will be doing much better with these specialists. Pain is obviously a horrble thing, but to see a child in pain is the worst. God bless all of you.

Good news is that I think I know what high school I want to go to.

But it's an all-girls school and the people at school think that all all-girls or all-boys schools are disgusting. But I think that school has a really good curriculum and I think that's my first choice. But if I actually get accepted and go there, I'll probably never hear the end of it from my classmates.
