I admire both of you guys. You seem to have really thought this through and have such a great attitude that will make your body ready for healing. God bless you both and lots of love sent your way.

I sent a letter to another sibling about the stalker sibling. I included copies of letters stating that the stalker would be knocking on my front door. I also went to the window at the courthouse. I didn't hand my paperwork in. I'm going to attach a page with the history of the stalking. The judge looks at the completed forms, then decides if the people handing in the forms will get a hearing.

    Re: Talk about your troubles

Just an update for me. The good news is that I do not have the mutated gene that would substantially increase my risk of additional breast or ovarian cancer. The bad news is that the MRI showed 3 additional "hot spots" that would have to be biopsied. After meeting with a lot of doctors and having a lot of discussions, I have made the decision to have a mastectomy. I think it is just the cleaner and ultimately the more sure way to go. That doesn't mean I'm ok with it! But I made the decision and now I just want to move forward to the surgery and the recovery phase! As of right now, I still don't have a surgery date. I'm going with immediate reconstruction starting which means the plastic surgeon has to be there as well. Getting two doctors' schedules to match up has proven to be difficult. As of right now, I know it will be sometime after July 7th. So everyone cross your fingers that it happens sooner rather than later. I have been told I will be off work for 2-4 weeks after the surgery so I really just want to get it scheduled and done!

Oh, but to my previous post - the plastic surgeon informed me that, by law, the insurance has to cover him doing whatever he needs to do to my other breast to make them match!! So the positive in all of this is that I really WILL get new, perky boobs paid for by the insurance!!

Definitely a difficult decision, Kate's Mom, but probably the safest and smartest. And with a perky perk!

I was just thinking of you, KatesMom and wondering how you were doing. I logged onto FORT and saw your new post. I hope they are able to schedule the surgery real soon. I'll be praying for you. Glad to hear that you don't have the mutated gene, but sorry about the additional hot spots. Hooray for perky boobs, though.

    Re: Talk about your troubles

I'm late to the party since I've been out of town but I wish you well, KatesMom, and Uncle David.

I'm terrified of cancer, especially since my mom died of metastatic breast cancer, so I make sure to get my mammograms. I asked my doctor's office about getting a mammogram after my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and they said I didn't need to have one until I turned 50. That's not what I heard from other sources, which said that you should get your first one earlier than that, especially if you have a family member with breast cancer, and so that they can establish what's normal for you and spot any problems right away. I insisted and have been getting mammograms every year since.

I think if I got diagnosed with breast cancer, I would go for a masectomy, too. I'd rather remove as much risk of recurrance as possible. Besides, big boobs have always been a burden for me. I'd love to downsize!

KatesMom: I'm happy that yours was found early. Make sure to complete your treatments after the radiation! We think my mom's cancer might have spread because she didn't follow up with the chemotherapy like she was supposed to after the radiation treatments. Take good care of yourself, don't be afraid to ask for help, and you always have us to unload on. We're here to support you!

Uncle David: I wish you luck with your treatments. Have you considered switching to another doctor? You definitely want to be on the same page with your physician/cancer specialist so that they'll be as proactive as you wish to be with your treatment. It concerns me that your currrent doctor seems to have a "wait and see" attitude, which lead to the tumor being left in your body already. I think that you're right that an all-in approach is best at this point. You're in my prayers and thoughts.

I don't typically address someone by a sobriquet unless I have previously hugged them. However, I'm considering referring to KatesMom as Perky (Boobs) from now on.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.
