Probably serum sodium. It has to be kept in a very tight range.

Katesmom, your dad will be in my prayers. Please let us know how he's doing.

Wishing your dad a speedy recovery, KatesMom. I hope they find out quickly what caused the low sodium levels and get them corrected.

Yes. Apparently around 140 is where you want to be. 120 is low and dangerous. My dad was at 100 when they brought him in.

Thanks goodness they caught it and he's now getting treatment. I'll certainly remember you and him in my prayers. I hope he has a full recovery and is able to maintain a good level. Keep us updated when you can. It's scary when a parent is so ill and in the hospital. Please know we are thinking of you.

I've never heard of that. Any idea what causes it? I'll keep you and your dad in my thoughts.

I've never heard of low salt levels, but it's clearly not a good thing.
My prayers go out to you Kate'sMom & to your dad.

I don't know if this is the same thing but my dad used to take salt tablets in the summer because he used to perspire so profusely on the job, and so, I guess, excreted too much sodium. Fortunately, he never had to be hospitalized.
