Thoughts, prayers and hugs Gutmutter! ... and hoping for some positive news from that specialist.

Darn. At 80 years old she ought to be entitled to relaxing and sipping some lemonade with you as you smell the flowers in your garden.
Neither of you should have to deal with all this. Darn!

I fear this will drudge up things that are all too familiar to you, Gutmutter. I will pray for her, and for you. Stay strong.

I knew I could count on the support from folks here. You're right, Baby's Breath... it is bringing up a lot of bad memories.

I'm so sorry, Gut. I'll keep her in my thoughts. I'm sure it brings up bad memories, but you're a survivor, so it should also give you every reason to hope that she will get through this like you did

Prayers & good thoughts on their way!

Just remember that as ugly as cancer is, there are success stories of people going into remission & living for many years. I know people who lived a long full life after getting the Cancer Sentence, even those who are diagnosed later in life, like your mom. Early detection & treatment bring more hope.

    Re: Talk about your troubles

Well, sort of good news. She saw the oncologist today and will have surgery to remove the lump a week from tomorrow. He feels fairly certain that the only follow-up treatment needed will be Tamoxifen - a daily pill - but no chemo or radiation or radical surgery. Of course, they'll have to check the lymph nodes, but that's not even the same removal ordeal that it was 8 years ago for me. They inject dye or something. So fingers crossed that it is as uneventful as she seems to think her doctor is telling her.
It still adds another layer of risk for my girls, though.

Gut, my prayers. One step at a time.

those who are diagnosed later in life,
My impression from friend's experiences is that everything moves slower as we age.
So cells multiply at a slower pace ... the good ones and the bad ones.

My fingers and toes are so crossed they are tangled up and I can't tell them apart.

    Prayers continue.
