    Re: Talk about your troubles

We just learned today that last night one of my husband's dearest friends was struck by a hit and run driver as he was crossing a busy street and died shortly thereafter at the hospital. He and my husband knew each other for 36 years and they both started on the job together. They retired within a year of one another. He and his friend are antique car enthusiasts and would often see each other at car shows. One town over from here every Friday night in good weather car buffs meet in the parking lot of the railroad station anytime after 6; it's very informal. My husband owns a 1948 Lincoln that is his pride and joy and he was going to go. The weather wasn't that great, though, and he thought better of it. Well, this is where his friend was struck. He was crossing the street with another friend to get a bite to eat sometime after 9 pm when he was struck by the car which never stopped. I shudder to think if my husband had decided to go after all. He may have witnessed his dear friend being struck or he may, himself have been killed. We are both in a state of shock. His 2 adult children lost their mom to cancer 2 years ago. I feel so badly for them. I cannot understand how someone could hit a person and just keep going.

PGM and Eastcoastmom: How sad, I'm sorry to read both of your tragic stories. Prayers to all friends and families that are dealing with their losses.

Sorry for your losses. It seems to be the time for death here to...my daughters fiancee lost his dad unexpectedly so it was a shock for those that knew him. my friend needs prayers for her grandson. He is 3 years old and had a kidney transplant a few months ago but now his body is rejecting it. She is beside herself with worry and lives in canada and her grandson is in texas.
