I just got off the phone with Paulie. He is stunned at how well he can see already, and the doctor told him that his vision would continue to improve over the next day or so.
He said the only part of the procedure that was painful at all was when they put in the speculum to hold back his eyelids, but it wasn't that big a deal. He said that he was nervously tapping his feet and the doctor said "Paulie, you're going to have to stop that; it's like an earthquake up here through the microscope!"
The entire procedure was over in abut 20 minutes. The doctor said that everything went "Perfectly."
Paulie wanted me to thank everyone for all their thoughts and well wishes.
On a personal note, this is going to be weird for me. For 9 years I've been able to quickly pick Paulie out on the basketball court because of his humongus goggles. With those gone, I'm probably going to struggle getting him the ball for awhile.
Congrats, Paulie. I'm glad all went well! Of course, if you read this before Friday night I'm going to throttle you - rest those eyes!!!
