I'd recommend wallpaper for that. If you don't like it just tear it off or paint over it.Quote:

It took us 10 weekends to finish....cutting fabric, stapling 10 hours/day. Both of us are adventurous and love learning new things, so we started out saying, "isn't this fun! This isn't hard. It just takes some time." By the 8th weekend or so, I was ready to slice him with the scissors, and he was about to staple me to the floor! :lol
As a side note, two weeks after we finished, our 2 year-old huge dog chewed one of the corners off one of the main cushions. There was some talk of killing him -- I can't remember everything, I was crying and things were blurry....but he's just so darn lovable. :lol That was months ago, and the cushion still sits there staring at us....
Thanks so much everyone for the great ideas. I love the fish hanging from the ceiling thing. I was also thinking of the beads for the closet but the ones I found were just werent what I had in mind. Wallpapering just scares me, I am too much of a perfectionist :lol I just wish there were more stores in my area where I could see things. I dont want to spend a fortune (there is so much to be done around the house) but I dont want it looking gross either.
A few months ago my husband and I wallpapered the stairway. It's a 2 story house and the walls in the stairway start on the landing and goes all the way up to the ceiling of the 2nd floor. It took a 16 foot extension ladder to get up there, took us 2 whole days and then I finished the next morning. I decided to paint one of the walls because I wasn't sure I had enough paper for the whole thing.. now if I had gotten this done when I first bought the paper instead of waiting 7 years the pattern would not have been discontinued and I could have gotten more!
To make it look nice with the wallpaper I got a stencil in a similar pattern and climbed up the ladder and designed my own border. I was terrified my first time up the ladder but when hubby laughed at me it just made me mad and then I was determined to get over it.
Before that we re-did the 1/2 bath, ripped out the plaster, hung drywall, put in a new sink, and I stripped off 5 layers of paint and refinished the woodwork, and hung wallpaper.
It was funny to see what strange colors people used to paint their woodwork!
My husband and I find the paint color is the hardest. We have gone through cans and cans of paint, choosing a color from those dinky little swatches you get, thinking, "oh, this is a great color". Then painting a wall, and suddenly it's more intense, a different hue....or we like it in the morning, but not at night. Or on one wall its great, on another that's more shaded, it's awful. We painted our living room/dining room with vaulted ceilings last year and it was a nightmare trying to find just the right color. We had about 12 different colors all over the walls trying to zero in on the right one. Finally did and we're very happy, but we were so frustrated over the whole thing, we haven't tackled the kitchen/den yet. We're gathering strength now! :lol
I have had to change out the storm door to my house and then cut a doggy door in it, built a new front porch steps and landing with a handicap ramp for the thwo older dogs to get in and out of the house and the real pain was the new automatic sprinkler system i put in earlier this summer. next will be living room carpet and bedroom carpet, as soon as I super glue some doggie wee wee's shut.
Joe, I don't think carpet and dogs belong in the same sentence! :lolQuote:

I hear ya, Joeguy. We just got new carpet installed on Wednesday or last week, and we've fed our dog outside on the deck every night since. That won't work when it's raining, so we have to find some acceptable solution soon. :)
Today, I added a gutter over our deck and slider area in the backyard. Then I finished building a gigantic step for my brother-in-law who's selling his house and doesn't know anything about woodworking (damn welders). Then I just finished spreading 15 bags of red mulch around my landscaping, covering the rocks that we put in 11 years ago and that had settled in pretty good.
I'm beat.
