Eva, my CC recipe might not be a killer, but my family currently likes them best of several that I make.

It is based on the Nestle Toll House recipe on the back on the bag. I'll just give my changes.
    • Leave out about two tablespoons of white sugar.
    • Melt the butter instead of just letting it soften. Do this carefully in the microwave or top of double boiler, as it burns easily. Melting it dissolves the sugar wonderfully.
    • Triple the vanilla from one teaspoon to three. (or one tablespoon)
    • Add two tablespoons of milk when mixing the dough. If you do this, chill the dough before baking and cool down the cookie sheet before putting the dough on.

    Enjoy!

    Shoot. I missed it too.

Oh well. According to the National Confectioners Association, tomorrow is S'mores Day.

You chocolate experts may be able to answer a question for me.
When I was on Mackinac Island week before last I bought a card with "their" fudge recipe. All the ingredients are common but one is foreign to me. What are "chocolate stars candy"? It calls for 12 ounces. Help me please. I really need to make a batch of fudge.

I'm a chocolate chip cookie freak, and this is by far the best recipe. If you like them thin, yet chewy and crunchy and gooey ... oh god.

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
    1 1/2 cups packed light-brown sugar
    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    1 large egg, room temperature
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips

    1. Heat oven to 375
    2. Combine butter and both sugars until light and fluffy. Add vanilla, and mix to combine. Add egg, and continue beating until well combined.

    3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.

    4. Scoop out 2 tablespoons of dough, placing scoops 3 inches apart. Bake until just brown around the edges, 10 to 15 minutes.
