Ewww. That is bad. Maybe I should consider myself lucky that I live in the land of snow at the moment where no one in their right mind would go out in shorts at the moment, so the only Uggs I see are with long pants!!

I have to say, I have never really thought Uggs all that cute no matter what they were paired with...

Here in California it's a huge trend and has been for years. Even during the summer people will go out in Uggs and it just makes no sense to me at all. I have 2 pairs but really only wear them as slippers or to run to the store. I don't think I could ever actually pair them with an outfit and think it looks good!

I never understood why some people felt they had to have a huge 4 wheel drive vehicle anyway. Even back in the day when gas wasn't so expensive. Ok, we own a big 3/4 Ton 4 wheel drive truck, BUT we use it to pull our camper and our livestock trailer and also to get around in the winter when we have 10 feet of drifted snow. Other than that, it usually stays in the garage.

No, they don't look particularly good, but as I believe I have mentioned (god, I'm boring), I am a bike commuter and a Canadian bike commuter at that. I cycle all year round and my LL Bean version of the Uggs is the only footwear that has ever kept the frostbite at bay in the middle of February.

So, Uggs in winter, Crocs in summer - fashionable people everywhere are rolling their eyes.

I'm with you on the Uggs, Rattus (not the Crocs, sorry, I won't go there ). I have the Wal-Mart version that I paid $19.99 for back in 2004 and I still wear them. (They're beige, though, and filthy - anyone know how I can clean them? They're that fake-suede stuff.) It's too cold to wear them here with shorts, though.

Rattus, I would think that uggs or lookalikes do serve a purpose for some people. However, I am wracking my brain to think what the purpose is when you wear them with shorts.

Wearing them in Canada on a bike, I can see. Wearing them at Disneyland with shorts, not so much.

No, Disneyland with shorts is a wee bit silly. I can understand surfers wearing them with their surfing gear at the beach, though (their original purpose). Because of the lack of fat around your feet and ankles, prolonged immersion in cold water can really cause discomfort, so it makes sense to wear something really warm, comfortable and easy to put on once you get out of the water.

Why shave your legs, and then put on Uggs?

I totally understand the reason for most people wearing Uggs or Ugg type boots. They really keep you warm and that is important......but here in California in the summer? I don't believe they should be a fashion statement, sort of like work boots are for work...you know what I mean.

My husband has been complaining for a while now at the trend of guys to wear work boots as a fashion statement. He wears them for work and now that they are popular, he has a hard time finding any. He wears an odd size too, so it's especially hard.
He says when he sees a guy out wearing them and they are pristine, he wants to say: "HEY! You! take my boots off or get to work in them."
