    Too funny, Miss Kitty!

I always thought, though, that the baby boomers were from the years 1945-1964, genX was from 1965 to around 1980, and genY was from 1980 until around 1994.

I went to wikipedia and they list baby boomers as 1946-1964, GenX from 1965 to around 1982 and GenY being from about 1980 until 1994. Hmmmm.

    Funny cartoon!

I've always read that Baby Boomers went from 1946 to 64. I'm always classified as a boomer. I want to be a boomer, no way do I want to be GenX.
By the other account, I would be a GenX as I was born in 62.
I am sticking with boomer, thank you very much.

There are four official classes--dead people, old farts, me, and damn-fool kids.

I like that. I am in your category.

I mentioned something the other day to another docent at the musuem about this nice "kid" that was interning there. The other docent said to me: "he's older than I am". Ooops. I swear I've reached the point where anyone under 35 is a "kid".

My boss had a theroy about why boys wear their pants like that (I was born in 1982 so I'm in between Gen X and Gen Y, but I still think it's "younger" people who wear their pants like that. I don't know anyone who does). Anyway, his theory was that the boys don't want to go shopping for new clothes so they wear what they have. It shouldn't be a fashion statement of any sort, rather just pure laziness.

How is that possible? I am, as always, in a class by myself, which makes you either an old fart or a damn-fool kid.

You are in a class by yourself. So I must be an old fart. I'm way to old to be a damn fool kid.

In its January 22, 2008 edition, the Quebec City newspaper Le Soleil had a topic about generations by age group.

    Generations are grouped as follows:
    - The Silent generation, people born before 1945.
    - The Baby Boomers, people born between 1945 and 1961
    - Generation X, people born between 1962 and 1976
    - Generation Y, people born between 1977 and 1989
For the last one, one can ask why Y?...

A caricaturist explains it eloquently below...

That is interesting they called those born before 1945 the Silent generation. Wonder why? I always thought they were called the greatest generation (or some such due to WWII)

Agree with others that baby boomers were those born before 1964.

My new favorite place to shop is J. Jill. Love their clothes.
I very much believe in rescuing animals, not buying them.

The greatest generation were those who were adults during WWII. Therefore they were most likely born in the late teens and 20's. I am guessing that the "silent" generation was more than likely born from about 1930 through 1945 and were probably silent as they fell between the cracks of the The Greatest Generation and the Baby Boomers.

I felt old when my mom and I were driving past the high school and I saw all the thug looking kids, and I said something, and the first four words were, "Back in my day..." and I thought, "good lord, I am too young to think like that!"
