    Well, if he owns the rental units, and the ownership changes hands, the new owner can do what he wants. Kick them out, or whatever.

    it's like the old company towns where a corporation owned the whole town, rented housing to workers, rented space to service retail shops like grocery stores and whatnot to have stuff available for their workers, etc., but the company controlled the whole town (not unlike a military base).

    there are renter's rights laws in most states, though, that now prohibit rental discrimination on certain basis though, like race and whatnot, so even if you own the whole damn town if you're offering a place for rent there are some laws which may apply.
