I could do it. I'd have to let the rational, logical side of my brain do the talking, and I couldn't allow myself to remember that the whole building was built by the low bidder, but I could do it.

Thanks AJane. that would freak me out. The Space Needle in Seattle freaked me out riding up in the elevator.

I'd love to stand on that just to get the experience.

battle creek michigan, known as "cereal city", is the world headquarters for kellogg's, and post and ralston are also here. the seventh day adventist denomination was started here.

kellogg and post worked together at the battle creek sanitarium which is where corn flakes was invented. the old sanitarium was a military hospital for a while, and robert dole was a patient there. now it's a federal center, housing the department of defense cataloging system.

sojorner truth settled here after freeing the slaves, and she is buried in a cemetary about a mile from me.

del shannon wrote the song "runaway" while living in battle creek.

we are also the home of the 'longest breakfast table' in june.

Oh no, there's a thought I really, really need to banish from my mind, especially since I live on the 18th floor of my building!!

My hometown... I'm sure I'll come up with more things but the first one that comes to mind is Martha Stewart's house, the one she called "Turkey Hill," which is really just the name of the road, but yeah.

Then there's the San Francisco 49ers who say that they'll be moving from SF to here in Santa Clara.

Lastly, Santa Clara is a suburb of San Jose, CA which is the 10th most populated city in the US.
Oh yeah, I forgot to add a couple of things.

Mark Spitz trained here. He moved here when he was 14. There were also a couple of athletes who atteneded Santa Clara University, like Steve Nash.

The amusement park I mentioned above contains the "first every reality coaster." That's what they kept advertising it by when it first came out. It's called Survivor: The Ride. I remember when it first came out; there would be commercials with Boston Rob saying stuff about it. Now I don't go to the amusement park often even though I live pretty close to it. But I did go there this summer, and I was so excited to ride it. But to my misfortune, the ride had some technical difficulties that day and was closed.

Our little town was also the scene of a devasting flood about 10 years before I was born. We all grew up on the stories of destruction and survival. In researching what else Winchester CT might be famous for, I discovered that in one of our oldest homes, was a hidden crypt that was a hiding place for those on the Underground Railroad.

Wow, bewty. That must have been so hard, especially since it happened when you were so young.

But the latter of your post is pretty cool.
