Yes. If it's still under warranty, send it back to the manufacturer. It's best to let them replace it.

It's a work laptop so I would have them do it. I just don't want them to hand me a whole new one and have to re-do all of the stuff and put all of the programs back onto the laptop.

If it's a work computer, then these are the kinds of questions you should be asking your work IT department/computer help desk. My IT department would be pretty miffed if one of our users was making changes to a company computer based on advice they got from a message board. I'm just sayin'.

I'm not actually going to make any changes. I have admin rights on the machine so all programs I put on this are ok'd by the company. I just hate having a new computer and having to put settings to how I like to see them. Double click, font size, etc. Plus many of my programs are licensed so I would need to have the disc to put them back on.

Is anyone else having problems with Google? The search engine seems completely out of whack - instead of the "right" result appearing in the first couple of results, it is nowhere to be found. For example, I searched "New York Times." The first page of results were all to do with hotels & not the newspaper.

Thanks for checking, bbnbama & gabriel. It turned out to be malware. It took most of the day to get rid of as my antivirus and antispyware programs did not get rid of it. We had to enlist the tech experts to do it.

Was it that "Antivirus 2009" thing? That tried to attack me yesterday. It wouldn't let me close the pop up, telling me I had a trojan and had to download Antivirus 2009 to get rid of it. I finally closed the window and went to the Microsoft site, it said that AV2009 was a virus. When you download to fix the problem, it loads it and it is a bugger to get rid of.
