    Pathetic Need for Homework Help

I'm doing a project on "All Quiet on the Western Front" and I have to make a new movie poster and recast the movie. If anyone who has read the book or seen either version on the movie (1930's or 1970's) has any ideas on characaters like:
    Kemmerich
    Leer
    Kropp
    Muller
    Tjaden
    Detering
That would be really helpful, thanks!

And actually, for those of you who haven't a clue what I'm talking about, just give me actors that might fit these descriptions:

    -intelligent, speculative, young man
    -young, practical, hard-headed
    -young, wiry, playful
    -young, cautious, caves under pressure
    -middle-aged, animal-lover
    -gigantic, burly man

I read this book three years ago, but...

    Paul: Johnny Depp
    Kropp: Ethan Hawke
    Kantorek: Jack Nicholson
    Himmelstoss: Tom Cruise

It's actually hard to think of actors, because aren't most of the characters 17/18/19?

With the exception of Himmelstoss, Kantorek, Kat, and Detering, I think the rest of them are.

You know who I just realized would make a good Tjaden? D.J. Qualls. He's not a famous actor, but he's skinny, young, and strange:

He could have been the model for that "precious guy/troll" for LOTR!
