    Re: Quitting Smoking

I am really excited. I had a young visitor today. Long story but I call her my summer daughter. She lives in another state and I seldom see her. Anyway, we were outside, and I asked her to sit ... and she said if I sit, Ill want to smoke ... but I don't want to smoke in front of you.

I told her it was okay if she wanted to smoke to go ahead.

She did and I sat and I could smell it at first ... but was able to put it out of my realm of thought.

This just teaches me that my main problem with smoking always has been that it is a habit ... and almost an unconscious one.

When she arrived, and I sat down ... i sort of wanted a cigarette .... because it's what we always did ... sit, talk and smoke ... but today ... two out of three aint bad.!

There was a home page story on yahoo about e-cigarettes. Supposedly e-cigarettes contain as many carcinogens as real cigarettes.

You mentioned on the previous page about having a dream of smoking. After I quit I had those for a long time. Off & on for years. I called them Smoker's Dreams. In the dream I felt guilty, but couldn't stop myself. I had to chain smoke as many as possible. Then I'd wake up & feel very guilty, as if I had really smoked in real life. The realization that it was just a dream helped, but it still worried me that it might happen for real. It never did. I felt glad & grateful that it was just a dream.
I was done & never went back or slipped, but the dreams kept popping up when I'd least expect it.

I've talked with other ex-smokers & this is common. Maybe it's our fears popping up where we can't control them.
