Wow, you're going to be about 10 minutes away from where I live, John! Redwood City, whose latest claim to fame is hosting the Scott Peterson trial.

Great place in Palo Alto for drinks: MacArthur Park. A delicious (but expensive) steakhouse: Sundance.

We don't get out much, especially not to PA. For the most part my knowledge of this area is all kid-related. Let's see...A great spot to go for dinner on the train line is Mountain View. There's blocks and blocks of restaurants right on the main street by the train station.

Have fun in Santa Cruz! The weather has been perfect the last couple of days and I think you'll have a great stay. Non-perfect would mean a little wind, not even clouds or anything.

I live very very close to Palo Alto, about five minutes away and still in the Peninsula. I hope you enjoy Cali, John! We're not all a bunch of blonde, tan, surfing movie stars drinking wine here, but I have to say that the Bay Area is not that bad a place to be.
