13% :thud Holy mackerel! :omg

When I lived in New Brunswick it was 18 %. You had to add almost 20 percent to every purchase when figuring the cost.

Makes our 6.75% look better that's for sure. :peek

Unk, you know they get "free" health care--it get paid for somehow.

Alberta's sales tax is 5 percent: they have oil.

I'll happily pay that 13% to prevent having to either remortgage my house or sell it outright to cover the costs of my upcoming surgery and follow-up treatment.

So so agreed! I can't even imagine what it would have cost during my 3 1/2 month stay at the hospital if I wasn't in Canada!

Oh, I can imagine quite well:
Unless you worked for a huge, generous employer with an unusually great benefits package (which, BTW, could be changed, downgraded, or totally taken away at any time without warning, so even that doesn't matter), you likely wouldn't have a computer (nor electricity, nor a home) with which to post your comment.

Sales tax in my area of CA is 9.75% :down
