I'm sure it is years of training...

That's what makes it so impressive!

My all time favorite is Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Judy Garland. It makes me cry but I still love it.
I'm in the Little Drummer Boy fan club, but loved what Dave Berry had to say about it, Like Bing Crosby and David Bowies version.
I like Elvis's Blue Christmas. I love the Eagles doing Please Come home for Christmas. I love most instrumental Christmas songs

My problem with alot of Christmas music is it's so over done, alot of female singers go into Diva mode and just ruin some of the songs.

and the McKenize's 12 days of Christmas is a classic hey

There is a female singer....whose name escapes me, who did a recent remake of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and she trys to wring out every emotion, every high note and just ruins the song, but she isn't the only one... guess I have to listen to the radio station that started playing "all Christmas all the time" in mid November to figure out who that is

    don't turture yourself

I don't know who's version of Jongle bells it is that I hate... I am beginning to think it must be Liza after reading Johns description... I hate that. I scream when I hear it and run for the radio wanting to smash it with a sledge hammer.

I don't like The Little Drummer Boy, either.

Last night on the Christmas at Rockefeller Center thing, (I didn't go), Josh Groban (Gorban?), whoever that is, sang "O Holy Night." It was pretty good, I like when males sing that song, because they don't try to make it too "showy."

    After reading this thread...

    I agree with
Little Drummer Boy - Crosby/Bowie (ONLY version of that song I like)
12 Days of Christmas - McKenzie Brothers (You can't not laugh)
    Santa Baby - Madonna
    Last Christmas - Wham

Everything else is pretty much pure shite.

And the Britney Spears Christmas songs? Such things exist? UGH!

And John, um, why do you have a CD with Liza singing Jingle Bells in the first place?
If you go through a lot of hammers each month, I don't think it necessarily means you're a hard worker.
It may just mean that you have a lot to learn about proper hammer maintenance.

Kylie, I actually made a note last night to post here how much I loved Josh Groban singing last night on the Rockefeller Center thing. He has an amazing voice, and did a great job.

Miss F, I have a CD called "The Christmas Album", with 20 songs on it...A mix of originals and "new" stuff. I pretty much hate the new stuff. Here's what it's got:

    1. It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - Andy Williams
    2. Winter Wonderland - Mitch Miller and the Gang
    3. Let it Snow! - Doris Day
    4. Greensleeves - The Ray Conniff Singers
    5. The Christmas Song - Tony Bennett
    6. The Little Drummer Boy - Johnny Cash
    7. Silver Bells - Jerry Vale
    8. The First Noel - Anita Bryant
    9. We Wish You a Merry Christmas - Andre Kostelanetz
    10. O Come, All Ye Faithful - Jim Nabors
    11. Jingle Bells - Barbra Streisand (Oops, I thought it was Liza!)
    12. It Came Upon a Midnight Clear - Burl Ives
    13. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Robert Goulet
    14. O Little Town of Bethlehem - Marty Robbins
    15. Deck the Halls (instrumental)
    16. Sleigh Ride - Johnny Mathis with Percy Faith & his Orchestra
    17. Christmas Bells - Patti Page
    18. Joy to the World - Percy Faith & his Orchestra
    19. Silent Night, Holy Night - Mahalia Jackson
    20. White Christmas - Frank Sinatra

Now, except for tracks 6, 11, and 19, it's a great CD. And I REALLY love track 17! There are kids in the background singing the choruses, it's pretty neat.

    Well, you're forgiven.

And John, now that I know you're talking about the Barbra version, I KNOW that song. I hate it. Makes me want to take up a heroin habit.

Now I'm embarassed. I went on and on about how much I hate the song, and I was totally wrong on who sang it

Oh well, if I help someone out there avoid buying a CD with this version of the song on it, it'll all be worth it.
