I'm shocked my favorite hasn't been taken yet, it would be those dogs who bark out Jingle Bells.

Well that or anything by Mannheim Steamroller.

Manheim Steamrollor rocks. I didn't like their latest one as much as the one before it though

Agreed on Manheim Steamroller. And not just their Christmas stuff. My dad got me listening to them back when all they had out was Fresh Aire I and II. Chip Davis is a lot of fun in concert - I've seen Manheim twice and saw Davis conduct the San Francisco Philharmonic once as well; he came on stage in black tux with tails, and white Nike sneaks. It started out serious and somber, but about halfway into the first song he took the top off his music stand to reveal an electronic drum pad - it was cool.

John, I'm pretty sure it was originally done by Eartha Kitt. Madonna did a version of it as well. I prefer the EK version, but I rarely hear it. I have a CD with the Madonna version on it, and it's pretty good.

I'm not necessarily a Christmas song purist...I don't mind current recording artists doing versions of traditional songs. I always enjoy Whitney Houston's "Do You Hear What I Hear?" and Annie Lennox's "Winter Wonderland". As much as I don't like Mariah Scary in general, I have to admit her Christmas CD is not too bad. Her versions of "Joy To The World" and "Oh Holy Night" are really good (IMHO).

At some point, I started a tradition where I'd get a new Christmas CD each year, and they've really added up quick. So far, I've gotten:

    Barbra Streisand
    Amy Grant
    Manhattan Transfer
    Mariah Carey
    Natalie Cole
RuPaul (Yes, RuPaul has a Christmas CD...Called "Ho Ho Ho"...it's a hoot!)
A Very Special Christmas I and II (Benefit CDs for the Special Olympics)
A GRP Christmas (various jazz artists)
Christina Aguilera (I like her voice, but this Chrismas CD is awful!)
David Foster's Christmas CD (various artists)
    Martina McBride (this year's purchase)

When I was a kid my parents used to play all their classic Christmas albums. I still get all warm and fuzzy when I hear Johnny Mathis, Dean Martin, and Bing Crosby singing x-mas songs. Ahhhhhh...Merry (early) Christmas everyone.
Iím haunted a little this evening by feelings that have no vocabulary and events that should be explained in dimensions of lint rather than words.

I can't believe that no one else here likes the dogs barking Jingle Bells.

I figured Wayner at least would back me up.

    Bill!

They're okay, maybe once per season. I don't think they're that funny.
