| Re: The Oasis - A spot for FORT parents It is a lot simpler procedure for a man because it requires a woman to undergo general anesthesia which is a lot riskier than a procedure that can be done with a local and over with in 20 minutes. Tubal ligation is still major surgery. IMO, it is a couple's decision and if my husband hadn't wanted to do it I would have been surprised since he is aware that it is a much harder procedure for a woman. I actually think we discussed it before we were married so I knew when the time came it wouldn't be any big deal for him. If he hadn't wanted to do it, I certainly would have dealt with it, but it is one of the many reasons I love him. | |

| Re: The Oasis - A spot for FORT parents My SO had it done at 45 and my oldest son at 25. Both returned to work the following day and never had any problems. It is alot easier, cheaper and less invasive for a man than a woman. My SO actually did it as a surprise for me. BC has never worked all that well for me and I worried about having another baby. It was a good surprise! ![]() |

| Re: The Oasis - A spot for FORT parents Well we talked about it some more and he's going to at least go talk to the doc about the whole process...Since he's in the military price isn't really a issue since they will pay for it...I will definitely go with him so I can ask some questions my husband might not think of...Neither of us have any desire to have anymore kids and him getting snipped seems like an easier procedure for him than it would be for me to get my tubes tied. MRD, I am getting my high blood pressure looked into...The doc was kind of baffled by it since it was normal before and during my pregnancy (and I weighed less than I did before I got pregnant)...But at the 6wk checkup it was through the roof...They have me taking Norvasc, and will be having a renial ultrasound and ecko (found a heart murmer as well). |

6 week old baby, my blood pressure might be kind of high too. (you know, just from the baby stress at that age and the lack of sleep.)Watermelon is GREAT for blood pressure. My doc and I just talked about that 2 weeks ago.

| Re: The Oasis - A spot for FORT parents After my having 2 C sections my husband offered to get a vasectomy. It's faster easier and more affordable than me having another invasive surgery.. He was on the couch with bags of frozen peas for 1 day. Then had to take it easy for a few more... but He is a drummer and was back at work drumming 5 days later with no real problem ![]()

| Re: The Oasis - A spot for FORT parents My heart goes out to your friend. For me it was just a decision to never have more kids due to the fact that I was a single parent for so many years and have never gone on a "real" vacation without children, etc. We have three teenagers and the fact that we won't have any more children does make me look forward to my golden years for sure! 4 more years and all of our kids are going to be adults.

| Re: The Oasis - A spot for FORT parents A cute one: I have a 2 yr old boy in my daycare, he has a 6week old sister. Today I was changing his bum and he looks at me and says "those your boobies?" me: yes E: you feed the baby? me: yes, when M was a baby E: no more? me: nope, she's all grown up and she doesn't need me anymore E: why have boobies? perplexed look on his face. me: (oh gawd think fast) in case I have more babies. E: satisfied look on his face. LOL they are so smart and perseptive! Kids are amazing and that's why my job is better than your's no matter what it is that you do I was also issued an edict by her Royal Highness, Princess M-pain-in-the-butt. School supplies are starting to show up on shelves around here and I was specifically told today what I am, and am not allowed to purchase for the upcoming school year. Camp Rock, High School Musical and Hannah Montana all got the green light while Dora, Barbie, My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake are strictly forbidden. LOL my kiddo is growing up. I said "how about something plain?" nope, not good enough. I then told her to use her own money to buy which ever special school supplies that she wanted. She was scandalized! "But mooooom, it's your job to buy me what I need." I laughed so hard! I'll buy her what she needs but not necessarily what she wants.
