Too funny. Do they have liners in them that you could maybe take out?My guess is that she'll get tired of 'em in a few days. If you're so inclined, SG, take her shopping and let her pick out some cheap, cute sandals...I find if girl-children are allowed to make some fashion choices (yeah, even at age 2) they're more willing to wear the stuff ![]()

| Star, yes - it probably is just a phase. And the more you resist her wearing them, the more she is probably going to want to KEEP wearing them. Frustrating - yes. Will it last forever - no. Believe it or not, she's at the age where she is beginning to see herself as an individual - apart from mom and dad - and is perhaps asserting her individuality by choosing what shoes she wears. My daughter did the same thing around that age with a pair of Minnie Mouse houseshoes that she had to wear EVERYWHERE - even to bed. It was a sad day indeed when the head fell off one of the "Minnies" (as we used to call them)! ![]() Maybe you have thought of this, but have you taken her shopping for some cute summer sandels/shoes that she might get interested in instead? If she is going to insist on wearing SOMETHING, then at least her feet wouldn't be burning up in boots if she found some adorable sandels. Just a thought.

| SG - my older daughter does the same thing . She's currently in phase where she wants to wear nothing but her "dress" shoes. Everywhere - even outside playing in her sandbox or on her swing set, so I'm sure they will be ruined by the next time she needs to wear them to look nice. She's also currently in a stage where she only wants to wear dresses. (she's currently obsessed with the movie "The Wizard of Oz", so she pretends that she is Dorothy - The dress, a stuffed dog in a basket and begging to have her hair put in braids) ![]()

| LOL thank goodness our kids' small obsessions are only phases and they pass as quickly as they start. Last spring/summer I had to hide M's pink rubber boots. She refused to wear anything but those boots and it was already in the 20's! So anyway .. I hid them and she started wearing her sandals - with the same fervor, but at least she was cooler LOL She has another small obsession - she won't wear white clothes. It has to be coloured or patterned (usually with flowers or polkadots). This is a long standing one though.. ongoing since she was about 18 months old .. she's 4 now. It's certainly one we can live with though.

| I'm always reminded of the scene in "Mr. Mom" where the little boy tosses his security-blanket, his "woobie" into the fireplace and he and his dad just watch it burn - albeit with some mixed emotion - and share a milestone moment together. |

| Duxxy, you're brave enough to try to put your kid in white clothes? No way could I put my grubby daughter in a white shirt.Re: school uniforms, my only experience with this was when I was an exchange student. Every public school had a uniform, and even though you weren't allowed to wear jewelry or anything that would make you stand out like buttons or special socks, all the students were completely in tune with who had money and who didn't by the quality of shirt they wore, or the exact brand of shoes...it might minimize the class differences superficially but in reality every student knew where another student fell in the pecking order. On the other hand, on a personal level it was nice never having to think about what to wear. ![]() | |
