| Re: The Oasis - A spot for FORT parents Take heart, Dux, my 9-year-old already doesn't want character backpacks. I think it's because my 5-year-old loves them...but she's already done with Dora, My Little Pony, Disney Princesses, etc. She likes the big-girl stuff her sister watches and listens to.Is M picky about her clothes as well? I can't shop for my oldest anymore unless she comes with me - very specific likes and dislikes, particularly colours.

| Re: The Oasis - A spot for FORT parents It's so funny how kids can be so dramatic. When my daughter was 13, she whined to me that "I was not taking care of her NEEDS!" which were fancy shampoo, eyeliner, blush and powder. I had to explain that those were WANTS- needs are deoderant, feminine hygiene products, ect. ect. I still smile thinking of it. |

| Re: The Oasis - A spot for FORT parents yep I don't buy stuff for M unless she is with me now. She's only 8 but SO diva-picky, unless it's a dress with LOUD colours. Then she's fine. My kid won't wear anything "boring" aka "can't be used to land a plane" wants are what your allowance is for! lol

Blog Entries: 7 | Re: The Oasis - A spot for FORT parents Shop??? You mean actually purchase something for them when they are NOT with you? NEVER! Think it's bad now, wait until they are 17. That's what gift cards were invented for and do NOT think about appearing in the actual clothing store with them. (I'm just glad my daughter while out there in style, still dresses conservatively and not revealing, so I can l let her shop alone and not worry about getting "ho" clothes)I was telling someone yesterday that I used to sew a lot of really cute outfits for my daughter when she was small. I wouldn't do that now. God forbid she wear something MOM made. Dux, had to laugh about the colors that could land a plane. My daughter is in cosmotology school and she is now VERY fashion "edgy" which means, loud hair, jewelry and clothes. Since we live near the airport, I'll have to keep her inside in case the planes mistake her for the landing lights. ![]()

| Re: The Oasis - A spot for FORT parents Heh...my 9-year-old likes dark colours, preferably black, though she will happily wear any shade of blue as well. I had to laugh when she was picking out a black hoody and a black shirt, then asking for black jeans. And during the school year she spent several minutes draping herself in jewelry each morning. She's her mother's daughter. ![]()

| Re: The Oasis - A spot for FORT parents Toiletting is something only they can decide on sweet lady. If he's into it you may have seen the last of diapers. Congrats! AJ .. black ?? no way Jose! Unless it's covered in glitter/sequins/sparkles. She likes loud stuff but she likes to be covered. I wont have to worry about crop tops for a while she can't stand to have her shirt ride up so there's no way she'll bare the belly purposely. I dress in mostly black too but my summer wardrobe has managed to find some colour, I wear varying shades of kahki on the bottom and colour on top.

| Re: The Oasis - A spot for FORT parents I just sent my baby off for her first day of 5th grade. The year round school thing is weird. Summer isn't really over and she is in school again. | |

| Re: The Oasis - A spot for FORT parents No, she still has 6th grade. Middle school is 7th 8th and 9th, in this school anyway. She was so excited to go and I was dreading it. I know how kids can be to the new kid. I did remind her how they acted at her old school and just to let it go. Chances are there are kids there who are nice to the new kid as well. I think the adults worry more than the kids. ![]() | |
