:clap :clap Thanks for that, chompstick. LLL is a really wonderful group. (Your group sounds just like my group back in Omaha! Supportive to those who are, non-combatant to those who aren't.) I also became good friends with the lactation specialist at the hospital where I had my kids. Actually, I think it would be a really rewarding career to go into.

Female cousin of aunt that is mom's twin-miscarried twin boys, conceived twins again and lost one. Has 1 baby girl.

Now, a couple of weeks ago, my son in sunday school told everyone during singing time that I was having twins. A boy for him and a girl for his sister. I had 4 people come up and ask me afterwards! :wow :confused :wow

La Leche is a very important organization to have around, but they do come across as pushy where I had my baby (Santa Barbara). In a birthing class we had someone from La Leche give one of the classes, and she flat out told us "any woman can nurse, and anyone who tells you they can't for medical reasons is lying." :omg I think that's way too extreme.

I was nervous about nursing and was surprised to find that I loved it after the first few (painful) weeks.

Another thing I remember this woman saying - she nursed her kids until they were four, even though she had two kids only two years apart.:omg She also said it's physically impossible for a baby to bite you while their nursing when the teeth come in. Well, maybe that's technically true, but they get bored and take a chomp to get a reaction.

My other sister-in-law's first baby that was tongue-tied and he couldn't latch on well. So, she pumped for about 4 months. But she told everyone that he was breastfed. :rolleyes I told her that she's fudging the truth. (I secretly wished that her next baby had razor-sharp gums---she did! :lol)

Both kidlets had razor-gums. I thought I was gonna die at times! I didn't think that my toes could curl around onto each other, but they did! :D

I've heard that about LLL out here in CA hepcat. They're a bit more extreme and pushy. :nono That's not what LLL is supposed to do or be.

I was at a Tupperware party at my cousin's house. Her sister-in-law's kid walked right up, lifted her shirt, and undid her bra to nurse! :omg :omg He was maybe 3, 4 at the time. Freaky-deaky day!

I had all these unfilled prescriptions when I left the hospital. I have this weird quirk of high pain tolerance, and didn't need drugs during labor or afterwards, not so much as a Tylenol.

Well, after I'd been nursing for a few days I had my husband go fill one of the hardcore ones. Wow, it hurt so bad, way worse than labor for me! At about 5 weeks I realized the pain was just gone. I still can't believe I didn't quit. I'm going to hold that one over my daughter's head one day. :devil

Don't we go through and do all of this stuff so that we can eventually hang it over their heads one day?

I'm going to guilt my son that I endured a 90-pound weight-gain (mostly water) and Fred Flintstone feet for him!

My daughter will feel my pain of spotting the entire pregnancy with her. I was panicked every day for 9 solid months!

Ooohh, that pushed my :pissedoff button. After I delivered my 2nd, I had a horrendous blood clot that they had to *remove*...I'll spare you the details...but apparently it impeded my ability to nurse. I tried everything, I pumped SIX times a day, I took meds that were supposed to increase lactation, I went to the lactation consultant, I guzzled milk, yadda, yadda, yadda. I did nurse my youngest for 6 months, but had to bottle supplement (the poor little thing just wasn't gaining weight without formula too). The pediatrician said there was no help for it, and my lactation consultant was very sweet and supportive.

Give me that beotch's phone number, hepcat...I'll be happy to explain to her that she's full of s**t...grrr...
