Star I'm glad baby gazer is much better. The things we survive as parents!! Aj a happy ending is ALWAYS a good thing

FYI - for future reference if you have meds in your home that are not meant for children but you are in a desperate situation you can always call a pharmasist and they can give you the correct dosage for your child. Have his or her correct current weight and follow the pharmasist's instructions to the letter. That will hold you until you can get your hands on some children's formula.
Also ... never go by age on the package instructions, always go by weight. When you are in the pharmacy give the pharmasist your child's weight and they will figure out the correct dosage for you right there. Your child has to have enough meds per kilo (pound) in order for the meds to be effective.
My daughter is 4 but she's in the 98th percentile- package instructions are practically just suggestions. For Children's tylenol pkg says 10ml but the pharmasist says 13.5ml and with Motrin the pkg says 10ml (2tsp) but pharmasist says 11.5ml. You all probably already know this but .. never use a teaspoon to administer meds, always used a measuring device like an oral syringe or a measured spoon.

I hope I don't sound all preachy - I just wanted to add some parent to parent advice

Wow, AJ, your story is terrifying. I'm glad your little one is OK.

And, Stargazer, you're such a conscientious mom. It wouldn't even have occurred to me to worry about a severe allergic reaction. My mom always used to do the mud pack that somebody else in here mentioned. You're very right to have considered the worst case, though. As you said, you don't have a lot of time in those situations. You're a good mom. Glad Little Gazer is doing well. Give her a little hair tousle for me, the little trooper.

Paulie, I'm not sure if its called being conscientious or if its just being a plain old worrywort. I've never even been *around* little guys until my daughter was born. I ask a lot of questions because I don't know what I'm doing.

Well, I'm not going to retract my praise. Bunches of parents have never been around little kids before and don't know what they're doing. They don't all account for the worst case.

When my little girl nearly choked to death on a chicken nugget 3 or 4 years ago, it really hit home for me how important it is for us parents to be able to respond to life-and-death situations in an instant. You need to be prepared. Anybody can be a parent in the easy times. When you're the only one standing between your child and death, though...man, that takes a lot of courage. I'm not saying that's what happened today for you, but the point is it could've been a bad scene, and I'm glad you were on top of the situation.

Well, I'm starting to feel a little sick. Today is the day of my future kindergartener's Official School Registration. We have to be there in less than two hours. I've already filled out all the registration and volunteer forms, turned in all the physicals and necessary paperwork, and paid for everything so I don't have a clue as to why we have to go there today. Maybe his teacher is just gonna go over what's going to be happening throughout the year.

I do however have a list of questions I've spent the last week compiling for her. (I’m so obsessive with all my lists )

He starts a week from today. Wow, my stomach is really churning.

Boy sounds like you Mommy's have had a bad few days. If it makes anyone feel better and it probably won't, I used to work for a pediatrician and I think about as many kids DO have a seizure than those who don't. Most of the time it's a one time thing. Spiked temps can easily cause seizures and while you're trying to get your heartbeat back within normal limits, the kid is up and going again. Sounds like you are all on top of the situations that occur. Boy do I remember those days. I was raising mine alone, too.
As I told you all yesterday, a baby died in a hot car here. One of our reporters was across the street from the hospital where the baby was officially pronounced dead. He was in Burger King parking lot, and saw an unattended baby in a car seat there. He went to the car and a woman came out of the restaurant sucking on a super sized drink with her bounty clutched in her hand. He stopped her and asked her why she had left her kid unattended. She said she'd only been in there for a minute. He then asked why she didn't leave a window down, she said she did (no window was down). She then said she had left the air conditioner on. She had the keys dangling from the "coke" finger. He told her what had happened to the other baby and asked if it made her sorry she had left her kid. She looked right in the camera with the most defiant expression on her face and said " No it don't. I wuddin gone but a minute. Wuddin nuthin goin happen to him." Well I'm thinking GOD is keeping a close eye on that baby because his MAMA is an idiot!

Goodness. I guess some people have to be throttled to realize they have to TAKE CARE OF THEIR KIDS! What the hell is the matter with them?!

Best of luck, VeeJay. My little girl, who used to be SO shy, really loved kindergarten. She's still pretty shy in certain situations, but she's no longer frightened and intimidated by other kids.

She starts 1st grade () two weeks from yesterday. I can't believe she'll be in all-day school already. Good grief. Wasn't she JUST born?

Awww, Veej. It'll be okay. I have a date with my oldest today to go shopping for school supplies and then to McDonalds for supper. Just her & mommy.

Thanks guys. I'm really glad I haven't eaten in a while - not sure I'd be able to keep it down right now.
