I've used ProActiv as well as my sister and a few friends. They all like it quite well. If you seem to be sensitive, just use it every other day. Accutane definitely works, but it's very strong with the possibility of terrible side effects. You should try everything else before you even consider it. There are problems with night blindness. It's good the doctors keep tabs on you while you're on it. Your acne problem should be pretty severe in order to resort to it.
i am using proactive along with my teenage son and i love it- but don't really like the cost. during the month if i let my self get dehydrated more than a couple of times especially during the heat of the summer i get huge zits, the deep painful kind. I totally back up the above statement about water! running off to get a glass of water now.......
One thing on acne for the non-teens among you---if you've been through the teen thing, had your skin settle down for several years, and then start getting acne again you may very well have rosacea, which may look similar but is very different (a bacterial infection I think). If you flush easily--turn red after half a drink or spicy food or a little exercise--and are breaking out again see a dermatologist. They have very good medicine for it now, but unfortunately prescription and lifetime. If you just leave it be you get broken capillaries on your face and a nose like W.C. Field's---basically you start to look like an alcoholic. So definitely see a doctor before you have permanent changes.
When it first came out I paid $120 to have it shipped to Canada. It didn't work for me at all, such a waste of money :(
I know several people who swear by Proactiv. Speaking of which, I'll bet this is a successful ad campaign :lol
^ haha that's so funny.
^ OMG I am so insulted! I don't have a girlfriend and had a bad case of acne which has cleared up tons, but still. :D
*ETA* I remember when my parents went to San Fransisco, they brought back like another version of Proactive, only it was called Klear Action. It was good though. Now that I've run out of it, I can't possibly book a flight to the States just for it.. Though I'd love to. :P I'm using Clearasil now and so far my skin has been okay.
