that was taken on Ross Island, home of McMurdo Station and Scott Base, the American and New Zealand Antarctic bases. That is a frozen cloud, called Nacreous clouds. A phenomenon that occurs when the sun starts coming back up down there.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!" -- Steve Parker

I got to drive when snow was falling last winter and crashed into a stopsign. Didn't know there was black ice on the road. That's why I'd prefer to walk anytime when there's snow.

BTW like the second pic joeguy.

I was thinking the same thing. But I had snow drifts going 2-3 feet above my head.

    Great 2nd pic Joeguy!

We have tons of snow here all winter and freezing cold too, so we're used to it unfortunately.

I'm a native So. Cal. girl, how do you get cars to run in such extreme weather? Is there special oil you use? How long does it take to warm up your car before you can drive it? How much earlier do you need to get up in the am to shovel out your driveway? I have an innate curiosity about almost everything.
