Meetup.com

Just ran accross this site called "Meetup" (www.meetup.com). It connects you with people in your area to discuss any one of thousands of topics in a face-to-face meeting (from the Bachelor to comparative religion). You just subscribe to a topic and you get to help decide time, place and agenda.

Subscription is free, but some features (like nominating a place to meet) require you to cough up some dough.

I just used it to meet other Edwards supporters in Denver. Dunno if I'm behind the trend on this, but it seemed pretty interesting and I wanted to share it with the FORT.

There are some things I don't think meeting in person is a good idea for. But I *did* sign up for meetup.com's poker group, to see if I can find a home game in my area.

I think some of the Democratic political campaigns have been using this -- or sites like it -- to get supporters to meet, with varying degrees of success.

Oh no, don't tell my brother about this. He's on the PA Democratic election committee.

Then I'm sure he already knows.
