For eight years we've had a tradition of spending New Years evening at our DIL's parents Open House party. Her Father is of Mexican decent and her mother was born in the Philippines..so you talk about food....Her mother has her friends over to help her cook the Filipino food for hours then the Dad's relatives bring in the Mexican food....I bring dessert......

you can't even imagine how huge the spread is.....oh, and they continue to cook and eat the whole evening

Before the evening is over, I usually persuade the women to take a break from the cooking and get the Karaoke out and start the performances

anyway hubby's not feeling great today so we didn't go...we'll go next year.

Lois Lane--I can smell the aroma a block away.. .....my daughter in law is wonderful....she brings much culture diversity to our vanilla family. She has lived in many places around the world since she was raised as an army brat.. It was, I believe, when living in Spain, her father started the New Years tradition of having a big feast and inviting friends. He always says that if you start the New Year with friends and family it will continue all year long.

Her family loves to travel in and out of the country and they wouldn't think of going without my son..He loves that!!

Here's a couple of pics of of our daughter in law. well, I sure think my daughter in law is gorgeous.. The other pic is My Three Sons and their gorgeous wives. My 2 daughters were already at the reception with their kids...so we didn't get them in this picture. (The son on the far right is the one hoping to get the job in San Francisco and the son on the far left is the one moving from New York to San Francisco in June.)

Vonna, not only is your daughter-in-law absolutely stunning, but so are the other women in the photo. As for your sons, yowza! You've got some good genetics going on in your family! All your kids should have many many babies!

All you daughters-in-law are gorgeous, Vonna. Especially the bride, brides are always extra beautiful.

Thank you everyone! We have a blended family. When Mr. Vonna and I got married (32 yrs ago), he had 2 sons and I had 2 daughter then...... we had a son together (the groom pictured above) but they are ALL OURS...When all 5 of the kids get together it is a complete riot. All 5 of the kids are fun loving and have a great sense of humor and the oldest son is still the instigator.....

Now for the grandkids.....our four oldest all have children....8 boys and 1 girl.(my NY baby)....Our youngest son (the groom) haven't been able to have children yet...they are kind of getting discouraged but she's still young enough not to worry yet (28).

Your family sounds like a real-life (and less creepy!) Brady Bunch! One of my friends was in her mid-20's when she got married and tried for 6 years to have a baby. They tried insemination and were thinking about going to an IVF sepcialist. But then poof. They got pregnant on their own. They now have two beautiful children (and had no problems conceiving the second baby), and are thinking about adding a third to their family in another year or two.
