Oh, I understand, Marley. But don't let people bug you, it's your decision.
I've had people ask me some odd/inappropriate questions becuase of some of my feelings on that sort of subject. You see I have never really had a boyfriend (and never really actually been on a date) and I have alway felt one day, I might get married and have kids, but it is just as likely (if not more) that I will stay single for the rest of my life. No boyfriends, no husbands, no children. Honestly I think that I would be happy like that. Granted I'm only 19, I could change my mind, but because of this I've had so many strange reactions.
I've gotten the "You'll change your mind", "Just wait till you're older", "Are you a lesbian? There's nothing wrong with that, you could tell me." (Maybe there isn't anything wrong with that but not wanting to get married does not make me a lesbian).
So I understand that people can be insensitive. Just try to ignore it. It's your life and you have the right to choose who you want in it. If that doesn't include children, then that's you're decision.

I always wanted to have children, however I was diagnosied with a genetic disease in my early 20s that eventually resulted in my loss of vision. I knew that there was a 50/50 chance of passing this 'bad' gene on to my children, therefore, it was my 'choice' not to chance it.

Thank you for your replies everyone!! I am glad to see that there are a couple of men that don't want children. When I have told men that I don't want to be a Mother, they say "Why not!?!??!" I think I am going to be single for a very long time. LOL

I think the idea that you "have to" have kids is crazy.
I have three, but my bro has been happily married for 25 yrs with no kids. I would never presume to tell him what is right for him, and I have never asked him why he didn't. None of my business. As for a 'friend' , that would be even less my business.
    Just ignore people like that.

    Marley-

Kudo's on your decison. It's your life to live and it's great that you are doing what makes you happy. Being the single dude that I am, I have often pictured my life both with kids and without kids. I think when I meet the right Mrs, I'll know where I want my life to go....

till then, I love being my nieces and nephews favorite Uncle Speedbump!
