We've been shopping for toys for my daughter and it made me nostalgic for toys from my childhood. Some of my favorite toys when I was younger (at least before PONG and Atari ;) ) were:
Toss Across (This was a TIC-TAC-TOE board. You would use bean bags to get the X's and O's to turn over)
Hungry, Hungry Hippo
Dukes of Hazard Slot Cars
I also was a girlie-girl and liked dolls, Barbies, etc. Strawberry Shortcake, My Pretty Ponies, and Glamour Girls were just a few.
So, what were *your* favorite toys when you were little? I know I'll think of a thousand more, but I'm curious as to what everyone else remembers fondly :)
Toss across!!! OMG I loved Toss Across!
And hungry hungry hippos! Oh, and Lite Brite!!!!!
:lol at Dukes of Hazard! A lot of my family lives in Conyers, GA where it was filmed. I used to love that show!
Okay, on thread (now that I'm almost teary from reminiscing):
Chutes and Ladders
Anything and everything He-Man or ThunderCats
Those little 45s you used to read along to books with (I remember Disney's, Flintstones, and good ol' ST)
Great thread, SG! :up
My daughter is your age star and I bought her a Strawberry Shortcake lunch box and doll this past year. :rofl

I absolutely loved my Easy Bake oven....I kept my little brother well fed! :lol
My other favorites were:
my Barbie/Skipper dolls
lots of matchbox cars
and Rock em Sock em Robots (I think that's what they were called!)
I seemed to like a lot of "boy" toys, LOL.
I liked Trouble and Operation.
Oh, you guys are bringing back even more great memories :)
I *loved* my Easy Bake Oven, Tinkertoys, and Operation.
I also had a remote control Batmobile and tons of Star Wars stuff.
BTW- My Mom sold most of my Star Wars stuff in a yard sale once when I was at a summer thing. It would be worth a good deal of money today.
You, Star Wars stuff? Never :lol
Now I feel OLD; thanks Stargazer!!!
Ohhhh, I so wanted a Lite Brite when I was little...my mom thought it was too dangerous :lol but she was OK with the Easy-Bake...
And I still have my Superstar Barbie and a Barbie van, which is yellow vinyl with all these groovy orange swirly things on it - oh, the '70's...
I remember playing Toss Across at birthday parties!
My 4-year-old has a Hungry Hungry Hippos game but very quickly managed to break one of the hippos. She also has a Candyland game which she makes me play EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!! (at least 3 games at a time!!)
And Silly Putty, we thought it was so cool that you could smush it on the Saturday comics from the newspaper and it would pick up the picture.
One more, just because the preschool has one - those Viewfinder thingies that you put a disk with slide pictures in and hold it up to the light to see the pics? All of us parents were playing with it the other day - hey, someone has to show the kids how to use it :lol
Playdo, unless your a fan of AI2, then it's Claydo. ;)
I get all nostalgiac about Fisher Price Little People. I still have some of the original wooden ones.
