It's pretty neat. Serves as a reminder that you have no privacy on the internet.

Woo, that's cool. The quote on mine is from the Matrix: "You have a problem with authority, Mr. Anderson."
Last week, Japanese scientists explaced... placed explosive detonators at the bottom of Lake Loch Ness to blow Nessie out of the water. Sir Godfrey of the Nessie Alliance summoned the help of Scotland's local wizards to cast a protective spell over the lake and its local residents and all those who seek for the peaceful existence of our underwater ally. ~ Napoleon Dynamite

I'm behind a hardware firewall, so what I see isn't my actual IP address. Pretty cool though.

stargazer, all a router (which is most likely acting as your hardware firewall) can do is block WAN requests initiated from outside (routers will sometimes have an option called "Block WAN Request"), but since you are initiating the .jpg request, there's no choice but to have your IP sent along with the request (so that the image knows where to be sent to after your request) and so that's your actual IP being displayed.

I'm just saying this to remind people that if you visit a site, they will know your IP and if you have many or all ports open, you can be at risk (but it isn't very likely). If all your ports are closed though, you're more than fine.

Zauis, true most of the time but I have a private ip address. My husband's company is my ISP, so I actually know what I'm talking about My browser reports my "public address" but my private address is not communicated. All I know is that what is displayed to me is not my IP address.
