Re: How many Canadians are there here?

I shoveled snow for the first time in 8 years, Rattus. Blech! My son has done it twice in the past couple of weeks, and since we have a shared driveway, he did the neighbour's as well. I met our neighbour today and he told me he was worried since the snow was so heavy for my 13 year old (skinny...) son to lift. But, he was very complimentary of his manners which is nice for a parent to hear.

I think we are in for a big dump again this afternoon. A month ago I was floating around in a pool in 35C. I'm happy to be home, but I think I'm going to be in the market for a snowblower!

Also, just an observation as a returning Canadian after 8 years out of the country: what the heck is up with every second commercial being about a drug product? Sheesh, it's enough to depress you. My son thinks all the side effects they list are worse than whatever is wrong with a person in the first place

I think that's mostly an American thing. Maybe you are getting American commercials? Advertising for drugs used to be banned but then they lifted that restriction. Ever since it is drug central...Viagra this, Restless Leg Syndrome that. It is excessive.

You have my sympathies . But unpleasant as things are now, you do have the treat of a Toronto spring coming up soon. No sarcasm - I love Toronto in the spring. The shedding of the outer layers, the baring of toes, the scent of budding trees, sitting in café patios, walking by the lake, shopping the outdoor bins in Kensington - aaaaah. It almost makes the interminable period beforehand worthwhile.

Ack!! It's not supposed to be that cold per say here, but they're predicting blizzard like winds and then colder than average temps till Monday. After that things are supposed to simmer to around -15's.

    Stay warm misskitty!!!

I can't remember the actual number (150 maybe?), but apparently Toronto has had third highest number of centimetres of snow since they started recording this stuff this winter. And we have more coming this weekend. I also heard that the earlier the snow starts (and it started early this year), the longer into the Spring it lasts. I am disgruntled, I tell ya. I have never, in my entire life, found a pair of boots that don't make my feet feel like they're being questioned by Torquemada and I seriously, seriously want to not be wearing them anymore.

    Thanks Canadian_Angel!

It's freezing out! But it's sunny so it's really deceiving. I think we've missed out on the blizzard of snow. None yet. Whew! Snowblower is defrosted in case I need it.

Rattus: The East has definitely had more snow than the West this year.

We got the snow and the wind. It wasn't super cold, but that darn wind sure made it feel cold. I think the snow actually somewhat tempered how cold it could have been. I hope that this is it now!! When I went out around noon it wasn't bad, but by the time I got home around 4 it sure as heck was. Yuck, I'm not going out until I have to.. which is Monday. So I hope my car doesn't hate me sitting out there till Monday! Ugh, our weather is so weird. Only in Canada can one day be almost melty and the next blizzard-like.

I am not going out today.

It's -40C with windchill or more. Still sunny, no snow, but so cold, you don't know you have frostbite until it's too late.

I feel so bad for the hockey players of the World's Longest Game....they are still playing outside (day and night) They lost the heater for their benches in order to keep the Zamboni from freezing!!!

They now may make the Guiness Book of World Records for the Coldest Hockey Game ever played!! Woo Hoo

Meowza! It's almost zero outside. Sunny. Feels likes spring. Ice is melting. Woo Hoo!

I washed the car yesterday and it didn't freeze up on me. I might actually hang the snowblower back up on the garage wall.

Kitties are loving the nice weather too!
