I find that the best way to use the baby powder is to rub it between my fingers first and then run my fingers through my hair. It absorbs the oil and makes it look like the rest of my hair.

If your hair is straight or fine and won't do anything, texturizers are a great solution. I just discovered Aveda's hair potion. I just sprinkle a tiny bit on the crown of my head, scrunch it a bit, and it creates great volume.

buglover, Id use a conditioning masque if I were you. Or any kind of deep conditioning treatment. You leave it on for several minutes and it conditions more deeply than a regular conditioner. Use it at least once or twice a week until your hair is back to normal. I've been getting my hair colored every color of the rainbow for over a decade (since my hair started turning white in my 20's ) and that's what I've done when its felt brittle or dry.

Re: Hair problem or questions

My mom used to put a hairbrush into a nylon and then brush her hair to eliminate some of the "surface dirt" and oils in between shampoos.

After futher reading in the WEN booklet, it does say to let hair air dry. Anyway, found Real Solutions at a local Target, since it uses many organic ingredients and is Sulfate free, I thought I would give it a try. Big bonus was that is was only $4.98 a bottle. Here is the link to their website for anyone who might be interested. I have been using the moisture recovery on mine and the kids hair. I think I will try the color and then the frizz next...just to see how they are.

Thanks for the tip on Real Solutions. I just found it at a store I shop at called Fred Meyers for the same price you mentioned, but with 1.00 off coupons attached. I got the type for color treated hair. I will let you know how it works on my fine, thin hair...

Re: Hair problem or questions

I have Psoriasis so my scalp is very "flaky" but my hair can get oily (if that makes any sense). Does anyone know of a shampoo/conditioner that might help with this? When I have bad flare-ups I use Neutragena T-Gel shampoo, other than that I've tried what seems like every brand out there with no real success. Plus, my hair is limp and fine...

Shampoo with Tea Tree Oil works really well for that SR5R Fan. You may have to go to a health food store to find one, although it seems as if Tea Tree Oil has become more popular and so you may be able to find one at a drugstore.

If you have a very severe flare-up, you might want to ask your doctor about Luxiq. I have flare-ups of eczema around my hairline and ears and my dermatologist prescribed me Luxiq the last time I went to see her. It just melts into the skin of the scalp without making your hair greasy. Regardless of what you use, you should talk to a dermatologist if you possibly can if you have a true case of psoriasis. I fought my skin issues for years with over-the-counter stuff and the only things that have worked long-term were prescription solutions.

Re: Hair problem or questions

Oh, I've been to the dermatologist on and off for years. They always give me different creams and ointments that goo up my hair so I don't use them as often as I should. I'll take both suggestions though and look for a shampoo with Tea Tree oil and ask the doctor about Luxiq on my next visit. I'd better write those down ... Thanks!

Nizoril - prescription strength is now available over the counter and that always worked for me. Dr used to prescribe it but now you can get the stronger stuff OTC.
