I'm guessing the opposite of "highlights". Dark streaks in lighter hair.

    But I'm no hair expert

I get lowlights. I can't give you the 'official' explanation, but I can try. Women who dye their hair a lot can end up having their hair color looking all one shade. Naturally, people have all kinds of different colors in their hair. Since I get blonde highlights all the time, they also add darker 'lowlights' to add depth to my haircolor and make it look more natural.

Stargazer and John are correct in their definition.Lolights are often used on blondes to make the hair look less bleached out and to add depth and texture but we also do them to add depth on natural hair and it also can create shine because the darker the hair the shinier it is.Lolights can also enhance a cut or soften the complexion whenn added near the face.

Your post in the rude customers thread reminded me of this, Jilli, and I'm sure you've answered it on this thread before, but -- what IS a good tip? (I'm getting a cut tomorrow.)

I feel anything over a dollar is a good tip.

I get anything from a few dollars to 5.00. Sometimes 10.00. That`s overboard. So the 5.00 tips are the best.

It also depends on the services you get and how much you like what they do...

Hope you love your haircut Lucy.
    GOOD LUCK!!

Well, she charges about $21 for a cut, and I like her (she's good at cutting, but bad at styling. ) so I tip $5. Thanks for the advice.

Jillibean - or anyone - I need hair help!!

To make a long story short, I damaged my hair by coloring it, stripping it, then coloring it again two days later. I got an inch taken off because the ends were ravaged from it, but the rest of my hair is extremely dry. What are some really good deep conditioners I can use in the shower? Currently, I'm using Aveeda's deep conditioner & it seems to be OK, but I'm wondering if there is something even better out there. Thanks in advance!

I tip five dollars or over, but she's a personal friend.
