    Re: Inappropriate Commercials

I was watching TVLand last night, and in the commercial break during What's Happening Again? (or The Jeffersons, can't remember which, was watching both), an odd commercial aired that I thought was inappropriate for TVLand.

In the commercial, created by The Truth campaign, a 'public awareness' organization, it shows a man on a dairy farm, arguing with the dairy farmer, telling him how the milk from cows is more harmful to people than second-hand cigarette smoke. It was a weird enough commercial -- lighting, acting, script, etc. -- that it caught my eye because I thought how odd to see a commercial like that on TVLand. But that isn't the part I thought inappropriate. And I'm not even talking about the merits of the two debate points.

At the end of the commercial, in two separate zoom-in shots, there is a logo sign that says, simply... "Waddafuxup?". That's the part I find inappropriate on TVLand. :nono

Those truth campaign commercials always disturb me, which is the point I guess as they want to shock people into the dangers of smoking. But some of them I think can be quite disturbing for kids.

Lisa Marie isn't too pleased with it either.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- A new video of Lisa Marie Presley singing In the Ghetto -- accompanied by her father, Elvis -- will be posted Friday on the AOL Internet site Spinner.com, a company spokesman said.

To mark the 30th anniversary of her father's death, Lisa Marie Presley added her vocals to the original version of her father's hit song from 1969. The video duet features images of her father.

Spinner.com will post the video along with the transcript of an interview with Lisa Marie.

"We had two hours to lay down my vocals," she said. "So the next morning, I heard the rough. . . . And I've never cried when I've done anything, ever, but I just lost it when I heard it."

She also talks in the interview about how she was offended to see her father's song Viva Las Vegas used in a Viagra commercial.

"I find that revolting," she said. "Some songs we have no control over. I know we didn't license that one."

Proceeds from the new song and video will be used to help build temporary housing for the homeless in New Orleans, she said.

Elvis Presley died Aug. 16, 1977.

Isn't that awful? Those guys singing look entirely too happy. Now they are playing it on the radio, so there's no getting away from it.

Not really inappropriate but incredibly annoying. That new Carl's Jr commercial with the rappers singing "Flat buns, I like flat buns" That thing has been stuck in my head all day. These commercials are the reason I will never eat at Carl's Jr.

Paris Hilton's half-nekkid body spread all over a car didn't already turn you away from Carl's Jr., dagwood?

It did, too. It seems like every Carl's Jr commercial I have seen has made me want to boycott the place.

I guess I should be fortunate then that I don't have one near me so I don't have to deal with those commercials, huh?

bbnbama - Carl's Jr is the same thing as Hardee's! I discovered this on our country drive from California to Alabama. I've also recently seen the "Flat Bun" commercial that someone mentioned and it(Like Hardee's IMO) is nasty.
