Inappropriate Commercials

What is the "little purple pill" you're talking about, Lambi? I thought the "little blue pill" was Viagra? Tell me you're not taking that for a headache?

Am I mistaken? Maybe I just can't tell any of those drugs apart. I feel like Neo in the study with Morpheus in the Matrix.

I have NO idea what that 'toopid Purple Pill does except illicit an immediate repsonse on my part to change the channel!

Yeah, those kill me. I'm listening away to them listing the side effects - runny nose, headaches, nausea, mild cough, itchiness - which sound remarkably like allergy symptoms to me when I realize "hey, isn't this allergy medication they're trying to sell?". Seriously, what is the point of taking this stuff if the cure is exactly like the disease?

The worst was the one for social anxiety disorder. I can't remember the pill, but a couple of the side effects were yawning and flatulence. Great! You finally have the courage to go to that party and you spend time yawning and passing gas! It won't matter if you're shy, you'll never be invited anywhere again anyway!!

The commercial that currently bugs me is one for TGIFridays. The guy is at the bar with his buddies. He sees his wife with her friends and immediately goes over to ask what she's doing there and where are the kids. He cuts her off while she's answering. Then they both look over and see the kids with grandma having dinner.
I get a controlling, emotional abusive vibe from the couple. It is probably not the family restaurant idea they were trying to sell.

I know there's supposed to be an empowering message in there or something, but instead all I think of when I hear Cher sing those words is that they're implying all fat women are lonely! I'm sorry, I have no idea if that made any sense but whenever I hear those commercials on my TV, they irritate me to no end.

That's exactly what I think too, and it pisses me off. I also hate the Krsty Alley ones for Jenny Craig where she's always cramming sweets into her mouth and talking at the same time. I think it's disgusting, not funny. Just because I'm Queen sized doesn't mean I'm totally lacking in manners. And no, Cher, I don't feel so lonely that I'm listening for you to inspire me!

I'm in total agreement about the My Fast commercials. Pull those quick. HATE them.

And I hate Kristie Alley now. Supposedly she was fine with her weight, representing all overweight women and now she's pushing Jenny Craig. ALL her JC commercials are annoying. Her Pier One one's were equally so as well.
I want to say get your A**, fat or otherwise off my tv!

ANd I think the Cialis and Viagra commericals are inappropriate for tv because we watch with my daughter and it's embarrassing to hear: if you have an erection that lasts for more than 4 hours, go to the ER. (My thoughts are if my husband had one that lasted that long, I would need the ER!)

My other hates are any car commercial (or any commercial period) that uses GOOD music from my youth to sell something. Especially the Led Zepplen "Been a long time since I rock and rolled". I take that too mean: "You aging Baby Boomer, you can't rock and roll anymore, so be a totally boring older American and buy a Cadillac. Be damned with your youth and idealism and "save the planet" stand and buy a behemoth, gas guzzler now that you are no longer young"

I just hate to see my favorite groups selling out to corporate advertising.

Who decided it was a good idea to advertise vaginal birth control rings on television? I don't have kids so I don't have to worry about awkward questions, but really! I don't know if it's been on tv a long time and I didn't notice but I seem to be seeing that damn commercial all the time.

Ok, the other one I hate is the tampon commercial where the guy and girl are in the boat and it develops a leak and she puts the tampon in.

It's gross! And embarrassing and even my normally unflappable husband says its gross and inappropriate. Another male friend said: Oh, so that's how those things work. UGH!

Hate that one.

Any sanitary product or sex aid drug on tv is bad.

The radio commercials are even worse. WE no longer listen to morning radio on the way to school. To much explaining to do.

There is a commercial they show on Oxygen about a freshening product. It comes right out and says after which activities you should use it. Of course, my daughter saw it and asked some questions. Totally inappropriate. There are some things ther you shouldn't have to explain to an 8 year old.

In Australia, Kirstie Alley is on a Jenny Craig commercial eating cake and pretending to be Dorothy from The Wizard Of Oz and tapping her red shoes while saying 'i'll eat cake'. I think she will put weight back on.
