I love Wayner's avatar, that was a great movie!

Anyway, I first heard about these guys and their "Talk Like a Pirate" day and site through my best friend who is very involved in the local Albany theater and is great friends with these guys through that! It's great that it's gotten so popular for our local boys!

Bumping this dusty old thread because tomorrow marks the return of another Talk Like a Pirate Day. Here is the official website: Talk Like A Pirate Day - September 19

I love TLAPD, which also happens to be my dad's birthday.

Aye Matey, have ya not noticed all the pirate decorations for Halloween this year. Looks like Terror on the high seas is the theme for Halloween in the stores this year. ARRRRR!

    Re: What's with the pirates?

Talk Like a Pirate Day this year coincided with my weekly kickball game, so we wore eyepatches, pirate-y headgear and brought plastic swords (and a fake parrot, but it kept falling off). The eyepatch, fyi, will screw with your depth perception, so we had to abandon those. Arrr!

that sounds like fun, Lucy! And yes, you can't see depth without two eyes, so good thing you weren't playing dodgeball.

It was a lot of fun. My sword got broken during a sideline swordfight (stupid cheap stuff!) and became a pirate shank.
