Nice. I'd particularly like to see this oratory performance.

The original O was about rituals and compulsions...the standard O was about Fame and legacies

Although it sounds like I was kind of a joiner, I didnít really get into high school all that much. It seemed like a total waste of time. Everyone knew me, and I felt pretty well liked by everyone, but that whole ďinĒ crowd thing was a total turn off. By the time I was a junior almost all of my friends were in college. I just couldnít wait for high school to end.
Iím haunted a little this evening by feelings that have no vocabulary and events that should be explained in dimensions of lint rather than words.

I really hated school. From the time I started until I finished I never found anything about school that I liked. Therefore I didn't bother to join any clubs. I was a good girl but I just wanted to finish and be done with school. I really wish now that I had tried harder but like they say hine-site is 20/20.

    In high school I was:
Cheerleader (captain 2 years), a dancer, a straight A student, on student council, in FCA, FHA, FBLA....you name it, I did it (especially if it meant getting out of class)! I was head over heels in love with a "college boy" for a majority of my high school years, but that didn't stop me from flirting with all of the guys...who besides my two best girlfriends were the only friends I had. I, like firegirl, was forever the girl everyone hated until they got to know me. Most of them didn't try to get to know me very well, which suited me fine! That meant the 3 of us got to share the attention of all the guys that hung around us! Honestly, I don't miss those days at all!

I was digging around, and found this fascinating thread. So I resurrected it. We have lots of interesting people here at the FORT.

    In high school I was:

    A straight A student
    Member of National Honor Society
    Friends with many people
First flute in band and in the state (though I kept it on the down
    low)
Drum major in marching band (ugh)
    Ran track
Clean and sober and a virgin (gasp!)
Dated about 4 guys (2 of them were about 1 year long)
Signed up for so many classes sophomore year I had no lunch
and had to get my parents permission to have that schedule
Who shot who in the what now?

Well, that was only two years ago for me. So I still haven't entirely made peace with it yet.

    My high school record:
    - two-time student council candidate (lost both times), one-time student council presidential campaign manager (won that one)
    - school paper news editor (where I spent more time feuding with my editor-in-chief)
    - library resident (where I spent more time reading the paper and the magazines than actually getting any studying done)
    - one of the loudest complainers about our high school's bad management (don't even get me started on this one. I could go on for ages.)
    - computer wizard
    - dated only once throughout all four years
    - I got drafted once as our school's contestant in an extemporaneous contest. With two days notice. I was eliminated.
